An initiative founded 10 years ago to create employment opportunities for youths across Lagos state, set its training scheme in motion on the 1st of July 2021, partnering with the Lagos state employment trust fund

With about 200 vibrant youths from different regions in Lagos state present at the White House in Oshodi local government secretariat, LCYDI implored support from the Lagos state employment trust fund, dissecting varieties of empowerment plans and setting up training programs to orientate interested support seekers.

In order for youths to be self productive, the organisers also introduced skill acquisition and training programs to kick off by August enlist qualified youths for loans, grants and stipends.

An official from the Lagos employment trust fund, Comrade Omolumo Dare highlighted the requirement needed for youths to partake in the scheme.

“We are unveiling series of programs that would empower the youths in this second half of the year.
There shall be extensive training which will thus open youth to employment opportunities and loan grants”

“What qualifies youths to partake in this empowerment are; Trainings, LASRAA card, National Identity Card, Tax Evidence and passport photograph”

“Support ranges from N50,000 -N250,000 (thousand) naira for startups business and N250,000 -N500,000 (thousand) for reviving business that needs boasting and N1million-N5million for an already established business that requires boasting“

“There is a loan for women which was put together by Access Bank and the Lagos State employment trust Fund. First Edu is also another loan plan for individuals that run educational programs put together by First Bank, Access Bank and the Lagos State Employment Trust fund” Comrade Omolumo Dare Added

Ambassador Michael Akanni, Chairman LCYDI stated in his brief to the youth present on the focus of the initiative, “which is to take young individuals out of obscurity by providing opportunities for them to dream big and aim higher in life”

“Our presence is felt in all local government in Lagos state, but we’re only present at 6LCDAs. As we begin to make more partnerships and open new grounds, we plan to carry every youth along and make life better for them”

“Just as our partners have rightfully said, We urge everyone to take this opportunity seriously, Most youths are now desperate and want quick money, they don’t want to go through the process of making ends meet appropriately. Here, we’re going to teach them and empower them accordingly from August” Ambassador Akanni Michael Added
