In a special plenary session dated 29th of August 2023, Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA Legislative Chamber came together to honour the best graduate indigenous students from Lagos State University (LASU).
The regional legislators took the round acknowledging the amazing academic attainments by presenting both bright scholars with special recognition awards.
Miss Sulaimon Halimah a Microbiology graduate, obtained a 4.68 CGPA, while Educational Management graduate, Miss Romoke Ogunlana got a 4.52 CGPA.
Both students, presently fulfilling their NYSC programs were applauded for their hard work and also cited as a source of inspiration for other students who attended the session depicting various schools across the LCDA wards.
Saluting the exceptional graduates for their great feats, the Speaker of the House in Igbogbo Baiyeku Legislative Chamber, Hon. Nurudeen Alimi, delivered an inspiring message to the best students.
He urged them to stay focused on their academic journey and to continue striving for excellence.
Hon Alimi emphasized the importance of perseverance and encouraged the students to pursue their dreams with determination.
His words of wisdom served as a motivating force, reminding the students of their potential to achieve great things.
On his path, Leader of the House, Hon. MKO Arowolo commended the parents for investing enormously in their children.
He asserted that the result attained by the students was only possible due to the assistance they got from their parents.
He further proposed an annual acknowledgement program to honour bright indigenous students within the LCDA.
According to Hon. Arowolo, the annual recognition event would bestow more value on academic scholars in society, shading the widespread societal acceptance of nudity and immoral conduct.
“If the house accepts this proposition, It’s a wonderful way to recognize and appreciate the achievements of our academic brains, propelling them to the spotlight” Arowolo added
Hon. Adetutu Banjoko, the only female legislator in the chamber, impel the students to strengthen their intellectual superiority.
Presenting a special portrait to the best students, she stated that Halimah and Romoke’s feats should be discerned as a rise of the girl child in a world dominated by the male gender.
She further admonished other female students across the LCDA to emulate the drive of the awardees, to raise the bar of their extraordinary performance.
Filled with excitement, the parents of Miss Sulaimon Halimah and Miss Romoke Ogunlana, who were among the guests present, praised the recognition session, set in motion by the legislative chamber.
They urged the local administration arm to continue in the same learned trajectory, asserting that more bright students would emerge from the region shortly that would also get the same distinction, if not more.
