The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina coordinated the official inauguration of the Local Security Joint Task Force, held at the council on the 25th of September 2023.
Prioritizing collective living, and business growth, and legitimizing the operations of the Local Security Joint Task Force according to the council will make society safer and better.
In addition to the takeoff, operational vehicles and motorbikes were procured by the council to further enhance the functions of the security operatives.
Aimed at improving the security architecture of Ikorodu Local Government by safeguarding lives and property, the inauguration of Ikorodu Local Government Joint Security Task Force (JTF) was widely considered another milestone by stakeholders in the region.
Speaking to Ikorodu News Network (INN) after the commissioning the automobiles, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, explained that the event took a lot of deliberation and strategic steps to execute.
According to the council boss, the council screened energetic and passionate men and women who were subsequently trained by the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, and profiles by other security agencies.
He continued, “The Local Security outfit is a planned and coordinated response against crime in line with my resolve to end the crime rate within the local government”.
“The outfit will grapple with offense and work with the police, identifying criminals’ hideouts and counter incidences with Superior ideas”.
“In the past, many innocent citizens and passersby had fallen victims, especially kidnapping and open fighting in the public that resulting in killing themselves”.
This behavior hurts the security of life and property, investment as well as scarce potential investors, but with the inauguration of the local security joint task force, Ikorodu local government will no longer harbour criminals in our community”.
Adesina, after appreciating the legislative chamber of the council for working as a team to structure the initiation of the security unit, urged stakeholders in the local government to support the outfit with the desire to maintain their success.
He noted that the security personnel, which is put in place to only compliment the job of the Nigerian police will be working with Law Enforcement agencies to undertake the surveillance of the communities.
“The JTF will also work proactively to detect any suspicious openings and preventing vandalism, thefts, or any other criminal behavior” Adesina asserted.
Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, commissioned the operational equipment provided by the council for the operatives.
He also praised Ikorodu Local Government for working towards upgrading the security architecture of the region, asserting that such enhancement will attract more development to the waterbed region of Lagos State.
