WORLD TOURISM DAY: OSHODI ARTS GALLERY HONOURS AYANGBURE OF IKORODU KINGDOM ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

As the globe marks World Tourism Day, Oshodi Arts Gallery, in grand style celebrated its almost 3years of involvement in promoting Art, Culture and Tourism in Nigeria.
The elegant ceremony dated 27th of September 2023, attracted students from schools within the waterbed region, Tourism experts in Lagos, the Nigerian Society of Art stakeholders and other special guests.
The paramount ruler of Ikorodu division, Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, HRM, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi was ably represented by Ayangbure-in-council.
Waxing stronger in the sector, Oshodi Arts Gallery used the day to depict its definition of culture, an exhibition of local cuisines, and engage guests in various activities that the gallery has to offer.
Welcoming the guests, Dr Oshodi Seyi Paul, CEO of Oshodi Arts Gallery describe World Tourism Day as a wonderful way to explore and appreciate the beauty and diversity of our world.
Detailing his humbling beginning as an Art Lover, he said that Tourism refers to the activity of travelling to different places for leisure, recreation, cultural exploration, or business purposes.
“Tourism plays a significant role in promoting economic growth, cultural exchange, and understanding between different communities and countries”.
“As we press towards becoming a powerhouse in this industry, it is only right we join the rest of the world to celebrate Tourism and advocate its essence to our immediate society”.
“Today, we’re almost amassing 18,000 artworks because we have continuous quests to uncover the unique world of creativity, but our adventure only reflects Tourism and its fruits”.
“It is also important to use this occasion to inform our young ones to witness the value our tradition has within the corridor of tourism, and we must ensure to preserve them” Dr Oshodi asserted
Other speakers like Dr Kehinde Adepegba from the Lagos State University of Sciences and Technology (LASUSTECH) engage the guests on the connection between Arts and Tourism.
Dr Adepegba delivered an engaging speech that emphasised the significant relationship between arts and tourism, shedding light on how art can enhance and promote tourism experiences.
Furthermore, Veteran Journalist, Mr Ben Olomokor, had an engaging discussion with the students about tourism in Nigeria.
He passionately encouraged them to preserve the Nigerian culture and traditions as valuable assets, highlighting the significance of the Nigerian heritage in the tourism industry.
Both guests and students in attendance were treated to a special art exhibition tour inside the gallery, perusing the dynamic art collections the museum contains.
On the special attraction, the Oshodi Arts Gallery dance troupe showcased a series of cultural dance presentations.
Their performances were mesmerizing and added a vibrant touch to the celebration, which was in all a delightful experience for all the guests in attendance
The high point of the event was the presentation of a beautifully painted portrait of the paramount ruler of Ikorodu division, HRM, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi to his Ayangbure-in-council.
The Kings delegates praised Oshodi Art Gallery for adding value and uniqueness to the region’s cultural endowments
