In an exclusive interview with Ikorodu News Network’s INN-HOUSE, Mr. Akeem Bello, recently retired after an illustrious 34 years and 8 months of service, shared reflections on his journey and the meaningful events surrounding his 60th birthday and retirement celebration.
When questioned about the significance of his retirement and birthday, Mr. Bello expressed gratitude, attributing his safe landing to divine intervention.
“I give glory to God for the safe landing after some 34 years and 8 months in office; only God made it possible for me and my family,” he remarked.
Addressing the road commissioning held in conjunction with his retirement celebration, Mr. Bello credited the OCOSAN 75-80 class sets for executing the interlocking road project.
The commissioning served as a commendation for his 3 and a half years as the Principal of Oriwu Senior College in Ikorodu.
Reflecting on accolades received, Mr Bello highlighted three awards dear to his heart – the 2022 Eko Independent Award, the 2022 Outstanding Principal of the Year (by African Brand Review), and the 2023 Presidential Award as the overall best Administrator in Nigeria.
Asked about his successor, Mrs. Agnes Elusakin, Mr. Bello expressed confidence in her capabilities.
“The new principal can do more than I did during my time in office based on her rich credentials,” he stated.
His advice to her was to carry ‘TEAM ORIWU’ along in all her endeavours.
As he enters retirement, Mr. Bello remains optimistic about the future, stating, “I believe the best is yet to come from me, and I am still available to serve humanity.”
Expressing gratitude to those who celebrated with him, Mr. Bello acknowledged the efforts of the staff of Oriwu Senior Model College.
“I don’t even know those who contributed to making this party a success,” he admitted, emphasizing that the event was a demonstration of the dedication of ‘TEAM ORIWU.’
He concluded with a heartfelt prayer for divine rewards for all involved.
