In a recent meeting held at the newly inaugurated immigration office in Igbogbo, Bldr Sesan Daini, the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), urged the Nigeria Immigration Service to intensify efforts in creating awareness among registered passport owners to promptly collect their documents.

During discussions with Mr. Muyiwa Odunubi, the Deputy Controller of Immigration Service in Igbogbo, Chairman Daini emphasized a crucial yet often overlooked issue – the tendency of passport owners to abandon their documents at immigration offices after processing.

Chairman Daini called upon the immigration office to establish effective communication channels with its extensions and develop strategies for educating citizens on the importance of timely passport retrieval post-processing.

Acknowledging that passport collection has not been a significant challenge at the Igbogbo branch, Mr. Odunubi highlighted the persistent nationwide problem of passport abandonment.

He supported Daini’s proposal, emphasizing the need for increased publicity to address this issue and promote awareness among citizens.

Expressing gratitude, Mr. Odunubi commended Chairman Daini for his proactive approach in addressing challenges faced by the service.

He also praised the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, HRM, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, and the LCDA for maintaining smooth operations since the establishment of the new immigration office.
