Aiming to enhancing community development and addressing issues in rural areas, the Lagos State Government’s Office of Rural Development recently orchestrated a crucial meeting with the Community Development Advisory Council (CDAC) Executives.
This pivotal gathering, held on April 4th, 2024, at the Ministry’s conference hall, focused on tackling critical concerns including security, access to banking services, and the equitable distribution of palliatives among Community Development Associations (CDAs).
The session, presided over by the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor On Rural Development, Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, kicked off with a firm commitment to reinforcing security measures within the state, echoing Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding the welfare of all residents.
Dr. Agbaje emphasized the governor’s proactive approach by unveiling plans to convene a comprehensive security meeting through the Office of Rural Development. This collaborative forum aims to bring together key stakeholders, including the Commissioner of Police and relevant security entities, to devise strategic initiatives aimed at fostering peace and harmony within communities.
Furthermore, the government’s dedication to addressing the needs of CDAC, particularly regarding palliative distribution, was highlighted during discussions. Governor Sanwo-Olu’s deliberate inclusion of Permanent Secretary Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa from the Ministry in the palliative support committee was revealed, demonstrating a concerted effort to safeguard the interests of CDAC.
Addressing specific concerns raised by Community Development Associations regarding challenges with banking transactions, particularly with Access Bank, was also a central focus. It was advised that the concerned CDAs engage directly with bank management to amicably resolve issues, thereby facilitating smoother transactions and enhancing banking services for the community.
In concluding remarks, the Office of Rural Development expressed gratitude to all CDAC Executives for their active involvement and collaboration.
The unwavering commitment of the Lagos State Government, under the astute leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, to deliver effective governance prioritizing the welfare of its citizens, was reiterated.
