
Member of the House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, has congratulated renowned community journalism icon and respected elder statesman, Prince Ganny Dosunmu Awobajo, on the occasion of his 80th birthday celebration.
In a heartfelt tribute marking the milestone birthday, Rep. Benson described Prince Awobajo as a legendary figure whose immense contributions to community journalism, socio-cultural development, and grassroots advocacy have continued to leave an indelible mark on Ikorodu Division and beyond.
The federal lawmaker praised the veteran journalist for his pioneering role in the advancement of community media practice in Nigeria, noting that his dedication to truthful reporting and grassroots information dissemination helped shape the foundation of local journalism within Ikorodu and neighboring communities.
According to Rep. Benson, Prince Awobajo’s lifelong commitment to community development and cultural promotion has earned him the admiration and respect of generations of media practitioners, community leaders, and residents across Lagos State.
He further highlighted the octogenarian’s significant role in the evolution and promotion of the annual Ikorodu Oga Festival, describing his efforts as instrumental in preserving the rich cultural heritage and identity of the Ikorodu people.

“As one of the pioneering voices in community media practice and a founding force behind the growth of grassroots journalism in Nigeria, your contributions remain invaluable,” Benson stated.
The lawmaker also commended Prince Awobajo’s dedication to the progress and unity of the people, noting that his legacy of service, mentorship, and advocacy continues to inspire younger generations within and outside the journalism profession.
Rep. Benson prayed for continued good health, peace, strength, and fulfillment for the revered media icon as he celebrates the landmark age of 80.
