LAGOS GOVT REGISTERS 279 CDAs, EXECUTES MAJOR COMMUNITY PROJECTS ACROSS STATE — DR AGBAJE ~ INN Nigeria ☆

Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, has highlighted key achievements recorded by the Community Development Department under the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES PLUS Agenda, reaffirming the government’s commitment to grassroots development and community empowerment across Lagos State.

Dr. Agbaje made the disclosure during the Ministerial Press Briefing organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development on the 29th of May 2026.

Speaking during the briefing, the Special Adviser disclosed that the Lagos State Government successfully constructed three Community Halls across Ikorodu, Badagry, and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Areas to promote community interaction and support grassroots activities.

He further revealed that one Community Hall in Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) was rehabilitated as part of efforts to improve public infrastructure and strengthen community development initiatives at the local level.

According to him, the Ministry also sustained monthly engagements with Community Development Associations (CDAs) through the Community Development Advisory Council (CDAC), aimed at fostering stronger collaboration between government and community stakeholders.

Dr. Agbaje stated that seventy-one self-help projects executed by CDAs were inspected across the five divisions of Lagos State within the period under review. He noted that the inspections were conducted to monitor progress and encourage community-driven development efforts.

Highlighting achievements recorded during the 2025 Community Day Celebration, the Special Adviser said four communities received vehicles in recognition of their outstanding self-help projects, while ten CDAs were presented with cash prizes for their exceptional contributions to grassroots development.

He further disclosed that within the last one year, the Ministry registered two hundred and seventy-nine Community Development Associations, processed six hundred and forty-two CDA renewals, and resolved eleven community-related conflicts across the State.

Dr. Agbaje maintained that the achievements reflect the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration towards inclusive governance, sustainable rural development, and active community participation in the development of Lagos State.

The Ministerial Press Briefing, organised by the Ministry of Information and Strategy, was attended by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho; the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa; the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Lanre Bajulaiye; the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government and Rural Development, Babatunde Durojaiye; directors from both ministries, stakeholders, invited guests, and members of the press.
