
The Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, led government officials, environmental health personnel, and residents in the May edition of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise aimed at promoting a cleaner and healthier community.
The exercise marks the second edition of the initiative since its reintroduction by the Lagos State Government, following the successful commencement exercise held in April.
The programme is designed to strengthen environmental hygiene, improve public health standards, and encourage community participation in maintaining a sustainable environment.
Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba, who actively monitored sanitation activities across strategic locations within the council area, reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to supporting policies and programmes that enhance environmental cleanliness and residents’ well-being.
Addressing participants during the exercise, the council chairman commended the Lagos State Government for reviving the monthly sanitation programme, describing the initiative as a proactive measure toward disease prevention, environmental sustainability, and community development.
She called on residents to cultivate the habit of proper waste disposal and environmental responsibility, stressing that government efforts alone would not be sufficient without active public cooperation.
Also, in attendance were the Chief of Staff of Ijede LCDA, Hon. Raheem Lateef; the Director of the Environmental Health Department, Ijede LCDA, Mrs. Olorunsola Christiana Olajumoke; the Council Leader, Hon. Kehinde Basirat Adejumoke; the Vice Chairman, Hon. Kabir Femi Kareem; the Council Manager, Engr. Olusegun Orelesi; and the Chief Whip, Hon. Temilade Akinyemi.
The successful conduct of the May sanitation exercise further underscores the commitment of both the state and local governments to fostering a culture of cleanliness and ensuring safer, healthier communities for all residents.
