
IKORODU – The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, has announced plans to deliver a modern sanitation facility for Oriwu College, Ikorodu, as part of renewed efforts aimed at strengthening school infrastructure and improving the overall learning environment of the institution.
Dr. Agbaje made the disclosure on Saturday, June 13, 2026, during the Oriwu College Founders’ Day Celebration alongside the groundbreaking ceremony for the National Secretariat of the Oriwu College Old Students’ Association of Nigeria (OCOSAN), held within the school premises in Ikorodu.
The proposed intervention, according to the Governor’s aide, will feature a purpose-built block comprising four fully equipped toilet units designed to improve hygiene standards and ensure better sanitation services for students and staff of the college.
He further explained that the sanitation project will be supported with a dedicated water supply system, including a water scheme installation to guarantee steady and reliable water access for the facility, thereby enhancing sustainability and proper usage.
Dr. Agbaje emphasized that access to clean sanitation facilities and potable water remains a critical component of a safe and productive academic environment, noting that the initiative aligns with the Lagos State Government’s grassroots development agenda focused on community wellbeing and public infrastructure renewal.
The celebration, themed “Celebrating Our Legacy, Building Our Future, Strengthening Our Association, United For Greater Impact,” attracted alumni leaders, stakeholders, students, and well-wishers who gathered to honour the school’s enduring legacy and witness the commencement of the OCOSAN National Secretariat project.
The groundbreaking ceremony was widely described as a defining moment in the association’s journey, reinforcing renewed commitments by members to preserve the heritage of Oriwu College while advancing developmental projects that will serve both present and future generations.
In a series of commendations, members of the Board of Trustees and distinguished stakeholders applauded the initiative, describing Dr. Agbaje’s intervention as timely, impactful, and people-centered.
Among those who expressed appreciation were Sen. Adeseye Ogunleye (Board of Trustees Member), Alhaja Kudirat Olayinka Lamina (BOT Member), Sir David Sunmoni (BOT Member), Engr. Shamsideen Charles Longe (BOT Member), and Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe, all of whom lauded the commitment to improving school infrastructure and enhancing student welfare.
They collectively described the intervention as a significant contribution to educational development in Ikorodu, noting that the proposed facility would not only improve hygiene conditions but also leave a lasting legacy for generations of students at Oriwu College.
