The Chairman of Maya Olorijor Community Development Association (CDA), Mr. Victor Ologubo has expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Governor for the provision of a water project aimed at improving access to clean and potable water in the community.
Speaking during an engagement in the community, Ologubo described the intervention as timely and impactful, noting that residents had faced significant challenges accessing good water before the project’s installation.
“Before now, we had serious challenges accessing good water, but this intervention provided by the Governor has brought great relief to our people,” he said.
The CDA chairman also revealed that the Lagos State Government provided a generator set to power the water facility, which residents have been maintaining collectively. However, he noted that the recurring cost of fueling the generator has become a challenge for community members.
According to him, mobilizing residents to contribute funds for fuel is often difficult, prompting a call for additional government support.
Ologubo appealed to the Lagos State Government to provide a solar-powered energy solution for the water system, stating that it would significantly reduce operational costs and ensure sustainable water supply for residents.
“A solar-powered system will ease the burden of constantly seeking contributions from residents to purchase fuel and will guarantee uninterrupted water supply,” he added.
He further commended Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, for his dedication to grassroots development and his efforts in bringing developmental projects closer to rural communities across the state.
Responding, Dr. Agbaje explained that the water project forms part of the Lagos State Government’s broader rural development initiative designed to improve access to clean water in underserved communities.
He stated that the projects are being strategically installed across various rural communities in Lagos State to cushion the effects of inadequate access to potable water and improve the quality of life of residents.
Dr. Agbaje reiterated the administration’s commitment to rural development, stressing that access to clean water remains a critical component of the state’s efforts to enhance public health and community well-being.
