393j3j3n3n7523696833680265845 Poised to pilot a first-class sharing of notions with sister chambers locally and internationally by utilising the goals of synergy in trade and industrial networking, Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry officially steers in a new leadership on the 24th of November 2022.
Engr Chief Kayode Shoderu, the Chairman and CEO of Omokof Ltd, a member company of Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) since its inception has been installed 4th President of ICCI.
The investiture ceremony, which brought in creme De La creme together at Oteju Hall in Ikorodu Ultra modern Town Hall saw Chief R.O Shoderu, take the wheels as 4th chamber president with plans to support and protect the interest of the business community in Ikorodu Division. Aiming to liaise with Government and the Private Sector within and outside Nigeria to promote infrastructural progress, the chamber intends to attract and increase trade and industry, improve agriculture, conserve resources and enable public interests in the business of the Chamber.
ICCI was integrated in 2011 as a private, non-profit-making organisation of businessmen and professionals, Limited by Guarantee (LTD/GTE), under the company and Allied Matters Act 1990.
Conceived by Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) following the successful hosting of the 1st Trade Fair in Ikorodu Division in April 2000 tagged "Ikorodu Division Expo 2000", the chamber gained bearing with the establishment of the Ikorodu Division Industrial and Investment Promotion Council (IDIIPC) which comprised notable, proactive, business-oriented characters who were, apiece and all, assured that the rapid growth of the Socioeconomic abilities of Ikorodu Division was likely and that the member firm stood the chance to gain in the process of Lagos maturing as a mega city.
Before installing the new president, Prof. (Emeritus) Kunle Ade Wahab, outgoing president, stated that the chamber has come a long way, committed to fulfilling its motive of forming positive connections with the government and non-governmental role players to overcome common challenges faced by the community.
Asserting that the chamber will continue to play important roles in bridging the concerns between Policy makers and the business community, Prof. Wahab noted that its business luncheon events have been a good forum for networking and unlocking deeper insights and opinions about the business district.
He continued, "My time in ICCI has been an instructive journey which has compelled me to think beyond the present and understand the larger picture, this lesson I will carry with me for many years ahead".
"It is important that Ikorodu Entrepreneurs, Women and Youth Businesses are enabled to partake in key sectors of our economy if we want to develop our nation into a thriving and vast country; we know it can be done".
Prof. Wahab completed his speech by informing guests that the latter part of his regime formulated a rebranding committee that initiated the facilitation of the new ICCI website.
Prof. Kunle Ade Wahab is also the current National Treasure of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA).
Chairman of the occasion, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, Represented by his special adviser on media and publicity, Enitan Olukotun, said the chamber will continue to have his support like it did the year prior.
Explaining the need to be involved in the system, Senator Abiru explained that he comprehends the need to synergise with the chamber for successful projections.
He continued, "The minimum duty we owe ICCI is to create an enabling environment and opportunities for it to thrive in this digital revolution age".
Urging the chamber to be more efficient at the forefront of the inventiveness and digital innovation that is currently shaping the world, Senator Abiru stated that ICCI must adopt more sophisticated means to channel businesses to leverage the numerous supports it has to offer in Ikorodu.
He stopped by saluting the new leadership on his successful installation, wishing Engr Shoderu a prosperous tenure ahead. In his post-installation speech, Engr. Shoderu clarified to the guests that in the next two years, his tenure will build on the foundation that has been laid by its predecessors, even though he's open to exploiting new paths. According to him, the vision to develop the Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry into a first-class Business Organisation is a trajectory to maximize.
"Our programs and activities that underscore our core values- through education, training, Trade Fairs, Economic Summits, Business Luncheons, Business Research, Entrepreneurial Programmes and resources will be continued". "We will maintain our commitment to represent all business stakeholders in Ikorodu Division and will encourage membership and representation regardless of race, political affiliation, or religious association" Engr. Shoderu added.

77766yh4790476872551238632 With the 2022 trade fair organised by Ikorodu chamber of commerce and Industry (ICCI) fast approaching, its new excos is leaving no stone unturned in making its presence felt.
In a bid to establish an inclusive platform for business owners across Ikorodu division, Ikorodu News Network (INN) joined the chamber in their recent royal familiarity tour across the LG/LCDAs in Ikorodu.
The trade fair is in partnership with the Lagos State ministry of commerce, Industry and cooperatives, and Lagos State University of science and technology (LASUSTECH) formerly LASPOTECH.
Recently launching its official website to assist small-scale business owners, the chamber initiated the strategic meeting with the royal fathers to bridge the grassroots with the industrial leverages they offer.
Giving more enterprise proprietors portable networks and accessibility, the team, led by the chamber's new president, Chief (Engr.) R.O Shoderu was chaperoned by the immediate past president of the chamber, Prof. Emeritus Kunle Ade Wahab, and Lagos State Coordinator, NACCIMA business women group, Mrs Akande Igbekele.
From the jump, the delegates were received first by HRM, Oba Richard Ogunsanya, Olubehse of Ibeshe kingdom before heading to the palace of HRM, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom.
Presenting the chamber's new excos to the kings, Chief Shoderu seized the medium to update the paramount rulers about the forthcoming trade fair and its significance to traders in Ikorodu.
He added that the chamber also intends to involve the LG/LCDAs council bosses, with plans to give more access to local market outlets.
Touching on acquiring vendors, Chief Shoderu asserted that business owners can merge with other similar dealers to secure their space at discount prices.
Chief Oloruntele Oduloye (1st deputy president), Prince Seye Adedipe (2nd deputy president), Mrs Adeola Rotinwa (1st Vice President), Mr F.A Ewunuga, Alhaji F.B Salami and the director general, Mrs Kehinde Adelaja were among delegates in the royal courtesy stop.
Capping their response, both traditional leaders lauded the excos for deciding to visit and intimate the palace on the new chamber structure, affirming their support towards the 2022 trade fair.
Before this meeting, the chamber had touched down at the palace of the Ranodu of Imota, HRM, Oba Ajibade Mudashiru Bakare-Agoro.

Held at the banquet hall of the palace of the Ayangburen of Ikorodu kingdom, Oba Engr. Kabir Adewale Shotobi, on the 12th of October 2022, the business community Breakfast with Ayangburen played host to community stakeholders, business owners and consultants, bridging the gap between factors that declines the progress of fruitful enterprises and key steps to growing brands in the waterbed region.
Comprehending that the prosperity of each business is the prosperity of Ikorodu, the impactful session was presided over by the king himself who encouraged all businesses represented in Ikorodu not to be far from the palace. In an address by the chairman of Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, IKODASS erected the forum as direct feedback means for community leadership with plans to achieve better responsiveness to ease of doing business in Ikorodu. Erogbogbo explained, "Each time you are here, we're expecting an accurate reply as per the challenges and obstacles hindering your business operation so that Ikorodu can serve you better". "Any difficulty we cannot handle shall be channelled to appropriate councils for their attention. One thing you can be sure of is that we would take it up". Erogbogbo further stated that the growth experienced in Ikorodu is food for businesses, assuring principals that the association will not fold its arms and let challenges fester. "We will not allow your business to be endangered in any way. Some of the headway we've made so far has been summarised in the communique placed in your gift bags" Erogbogbo added.
Chairman of the symposium, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, ably represented by his special adviser on media & publicity, Mr Enitan Olukotun, reminded participants about the senator's promise to institute a revolving loan scheme to help MSMEs in his constituency access funds for business, a promise he has fulfilled.
He explained how the senator embarked on a Legislation of creativity, introducing the franchise regulatory bill in the corporate environment to foster business growth.
Stressing that the constituency office of the senator has been extensively used to serve the good people of the Ikorodu division.
Mr Enitan continued, "It is no more a plan. It is now a reality because our distinguished Senator has mobilized 300 million naira for the scheme". "Small business owners can easily access between 50,000 to 1 Million naira loan at just 6% per annum". Enitan further expanded that the LSETF Liaison Office at Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat is where to access the loan.
"The Senator is passionate about the assignment given to him by the good people in Lagos East. Anyone that comes to him to initiate a business idea that will elevate the region, Tokunbo Abiru is always ready to listen and try it out".
After the speech by Mr Enitan, IKODASS Chairman, Rotimi Erogbogbo applauded Senator Tokunbo Abiru for institutionally tackling issues rather than embarking on political tokenism and grandstanding. Erogbogbo, subsequently brought participants up to speed with the upcoming edition of the Ikorodu Oga day celebration in 2022.
He proceeded, "Next month marks the biggest month in Ikorodu history. For the past 31 years November has become synonymous with Ikorodu". "This is so because it is in November that we celebrate Oga Day Festival every year. This edition holds larger promise and another opportunity as it is bigger and more inclusive. We are preparing to host well more than the 9000 people who visited the festival last year".
"The festival consists of several expressions that would afford business owners deeper penetration into the Ikorodu market. This includes Walk for Fitness, Say No To Drugs; Table Tennis Tournament; Market Expo; Woro; Music Concert; Hair and Fashion Show; Miss Ikorodu Beauty Pageant; Medical Mission; and so much more".
"As business people, you know, more than anyone else, that once people gather, there is money to be made. Do not be left out. Stands for Ikorodu Market Expo which runs for the duration of the festival are already on sale, plus space in the festival brochure for adverts and congratulatory messages" Erogbogbo asserted
Guest Speaker, and United Nations Ambassador, Prof. Adetunji Armstrong, highlighted the challenges of doing business in urban cities with Ikorodu as a case study.
Labelling Ikorodu as the next Dubai of Africa, Prof. Adetunji categorised Ikorodu as a province that possesses a strong leadership structure and the goodwill of the people.
Prof. Adetunji progressed, "With LASUSTECH, Caleb University, Ikorodu General Hospital, Ikorodu Maritime Port, Egbin Power plant and the coming of Imota rice mill which is considered the largest in Africa, Ikorodu is slowly becoming the juggernaut in infrastructure in the whole of Nigeria".
"Ikorodu has met with major rudimentary steps to make a region great in development. What is needed now is more power supply across the division, fly-over bridges to create an easy road network in and out of the region and more fire service centres plus health centres".
He augmented that the popular Ikorodu roundabout is sanitised to reduce the congestion of people hanging around the space, further giving kudos to Senator Tokunbo Abiru and Hon Babajimi Benson (MHR) for the construction of the road.
Complimenting the speech of the guest speaker, Majority Leader of the Lagos state house of Assembly, representing Ikorodu constituency 1, Hon. SOB Agunbiade, before moderating the question and answer session of the meeting applauded Rotimi Erogbogbo, referring him to as a human engineer due to his intellectual tendencies of bridging the gap between human reserves and material resources.
Agunbiade also expressed his sense of vindication with the news that Ikorodu had been declared the 3rd largest city in the southwest, which validated his fight against merging Ikorodu with Somolu and Kosofe.
On security, Agunbiade explained that despite measures put in place to combat insecurities in Ikorodu, a large number of people relocating to Ikorodu has made it uneasy for people to observe the level of security upgrade the region has provided.
Urging business owners to collaborate with IKODASS's business initiative known as the market expo, to create effective synergy, Agunbiade noted that on security challenges, he will initiate a discussion with the Odofin of Ikorodu on the masterplan of the land, to enhance the security approach as the region continues to grow.
Otunba Ayodele Elesho briefly requested Rotimi Erogbogbo to create a sub-committee on ensuring that every contribution made by business owners is noted and acted upon to further effect positive change in the business sector of the region.
Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu kingdom in his parting remarks stated that Ikorodu is about inclusiveness, urging all quotas to continue to work together to take Ikorodu to the next level.
"We're gradually working towards a security status that gives people the freedom to move freely at night because people are still afraid in areas of security". "Every question raised by business owners will be noted by IKODASS and enforced immediately. A megacity status requires a high level of security, we're getting there gradually".
Oba Shotobi added that he sees a time coming for Ikorodu to host the International Olympic Games.

IKORODU DIVISION COUNCIL BOSSES HOST MARITIME CONTRACTORS, DISCUSS WATERWAY BUSINESS, SECURITY & REVENUE GENERATION ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

e8839393j3nn7391870183361112692 Poised to maximise prospects in the maritime sector for the wealth of residents and stakeholders in Ikorodu division, through investments in water transportation, delegates from Lagos Association Of Maritime Contractors/Petro Gas servicing Operators and Water Transporters converged at Ikorodu local government secretariat on the 20th of September 2022.
The meeting depicted a pact channel for partnership with government agencies and organisations to secure endurable shipping business in the region.
Executive Chairman Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, Bldr. Sesan Daini, Chairman Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo Alogba, Chairman Ijede LCDA and Bldr. Adeola Adebisi Banjo, Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA received the representatives.
In understanding the benefit of promoting collaboration for sustainable partnerships and projects in the Maritime industry, Ikorodu News Network (INN) spoke with both the council and the association's BOT chairman post-meeting to verify progress made.
Group Marine Capt. Taiwo O. Mogbojuri, BOT Chairman of the association, underscored to INN, the need to enhance shipping business in the region.
Captain Taiwo proceeded, "Our body is the apex unified maritime association in Lagos state, and we're here to usher in development in Ikorodu division maritime sector, we plan to unify the sector and also align with transport operators within Ikorodu".
"In Ikorodu, we've 3 regions where maritime are thriving, which are Igbogbo Baiyeku, Ikorodu west and Ikorodu Central, though it is growing in Ijede LCDA, but not voluminous due to the road network system".
Captain Taiwo stated that the need to increase the maritime industry’s contribution to Ikorodu's Gross Domestic Products prompted the collective meeting with the council bosses.
He explained, "It is the first time we're having a joint agreement meet, which will produce a safer Ikorodu, aligning with the Lagos state position on maritime, and believe me, if there is a safe environment, the investment will grow fast".
"We aim to eradicate every form of complexness, so Ikorodu maritime sector doesn't look like that of Apapa in Lagos, presenting flexible operations which the global maritime bodies use and also model sophisticated standard of regulations to compliments the federal government policies".
Captain Taiwo, who thanked the council bosses for their listening ears, urged residents in Ikorodu to embrace maritime businesses, adding that the sector possesses more advantages than disadvantages.
"When the synergy between us and local governments is enforced, it will create direct and indirect employments, it will improve the standard of living and make the council grow more".
"While Investment tendencies and revenue will grow, we're also going to involve other security agencies to ensure the waterways are safe by preventing negative infiltrations" Captain Taiwo concluded
Speaking on behalf of the council and LCDA chairmen, Hon. Wasiu Adesina tagged the discussion as a welcome notion, expressing the council's excitement to collaborate with the association for profitable means.
Adesina elucidated, "For us, this meeting is a criterion to look inward and improve our revenue system, it is also coming at a time when we need to lunge into the maritime industry to achieve endurable growth”.
"Our synergy with the association is not dwelling on generating revenue alone, but also to secure lives and property. If we eventually give them the approval, SIFAX GROUP in Apapa will come in, and then more container inflows will be operating in Ikorodu which would stimulate business activities".
"Now, note that with more containers and trucks coming into Ikorodu, you will see some intruders trying to take advantage of the progress we're making to perpetuate evil activities like bribery and theft, So on that scale, we're working on putting the adequate security outfit in place before the operation commence".
Adesina further explained that if the collaborative effort is officially launched in Ikorodu, it will attract key players like Dangote and Flower Mills to come onboard in boasting the sector and play a main function in the growth of living standards as well as contributing considerably to taking millions of people out of abject poverty.
“What we desire to do is to suitably harness this sector to unlock the full monetary capabilities of the oceans, surf, lakes, brooks and other water resources through stakes that encompass useful participation of all relevant stakeholders while conserving the reserves for current and prospective generations" Adesina concluded.
