IKODIV TRADE FAIR 2023: ICCI PROMOTES 2ND EDITION OF BUSINESS EXTRAVAGANZA AT LASUSTECH, CALLS FOR MSMEs TO UTILISE VENDOR STANDS ®™√ INN Nigeria © 303kekkek834851880690957581 Building momentum towards linking business gaps between MSMEs, a press conference foregoing the 2nd edition of the IKODIV Trade Fair, organised by the Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICC) took place on the 22nd of march 2023. Held at the boardroom of the Lagos State University Of Science and Technology in Ikorodu, the Trade Fair is billed to be a joint venture with LASUSTECH, ably supported by the State Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Cooperatives. With the primary objective of promoting commerce, industry, and the economic growth of Ikorodu Division, Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) is spearheading the 2nd edition to further develop more networks between over 100 registered small and large-scale business owners, giving expansion tendencies thereof. Setting the conference in motion, Chief R.O Shoderu, President of ICCI, stated that the Chamber, over the years have helped tirelessly to create avenues of growth and improvement for businesses to thrive, asserting that they (ICCI) are proud to have made significant strides in achieving its objective. According to Chief Shoderu, the annual Trade Fair event, also known as IKODIV Trade Fair, is one of the many ways the ICCI has demonstrated its commitment to the economic development of the waterbed region in Lagos State. He continued, "This event provides a platform for entrepreneurs and business owners, including macro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) to showcase their products and services, network, and engage in business transactions". "As an organisation, we are convinced that promoting entrepreneurship and providing support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is crucial to the economic growth of our Division". "This is why we have made it our mission to provide support and guidance to these businesses so that they can compete favourably on the global stage". "As we embark on this year's edition of the IKODIV Trade Fair, we are excited about the opportunities it presents to businesses in our environs". Wishing everyone a fruitful and memorable experience at the fair, Chief Shoderu concluded his speech by appreciating its sponsors, partners, and exhibitors for their unwavering support towards making the 2nd edition of the IKODIV Trade Fair a success. Conversing briefly on the ICCI and Lasustech synergy, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odunsanya, Vice-Chancellor of Lasustech, expressed his optimism on the trade fair not only promoting the growth of individual businesses but also contribute significantly to the economic development of Ikorodu Division. He affirmed his confidence that with ceaseless support, Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry will achieve even greater success in the coming years. An ICCI exco member, Prince Seye Adedipe, used the medium to call on the Lagos State Government over the poor condition of the industrial estate in the odogunyan axis of Ikorodu North LCDA. According to Prince Seye, both the Federal and State Government's purported promises is yet to yield. The vast industrial estate is considered the largest in west Africa. Prince Seye mumbled that if businesses must flourish then the industrial estate has to be rejuvenated, which would be an economic growth factor, not only in Ikorodu but all of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole. Past President, Prof. Emeritus Kunle Ade Wahab, channelled his words of encouragement towards the media practitioners present at the press conference, instructing them to effectively propagate the course and essence of the Trade Fair, reaching out to licensed prospects. He also said that the media can equally play a big role in providing remedies towards challenges faced by the ICCI as underscored by Prince Seye if they carefully give emphasis to the plights and continuously sound the alarm for intervention. "The media should also help us reach out to everyone to visit the Trade Fair and witness, firsthand, the wealth of talent and entrepreneurial spirit that exists in our Division" Prof. Kunle Wahab asserted. Sola Obadimu, Director General of the National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, who was present at the conference lauded the ICCI for working on strategic means to create more business opportunities for traders. He also thanked Lasustech's administrators for joining heads together with ICCI to make the 2nd edition of the IKODIV Trade Fair a reality, citing that the collaboration is an open door for more futuristic synergies. Lagos NACCIMA exco, Mrs Helen Tabunor Ogedegbe thanked everyone for attending the conference, urging every stakeholder not to relent in their commitment towards making the 2nd edition a success. The conference was anchored by Mr Olarenwaju Kuye, PRO Lasustech. Dr Olumide Metilelu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Lasustech, Alhaji Mohammed Ogidi, Mrs Kehinde Adelaja, DG ICCI, Alhaji Mukaila Afolabi, Mrs Adeola Rotinwa, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, Chairman, Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Alhaja Zainab Alogba (Coordinator, ICCI NAWORG Ikorodu) and other key personalities were in attendance. The Trade Fair is slated to kick off on the 26th of March and climax on the 2nd of April 2023. Traders partaking in the fair stand to gain a lot as some selected vendors were surprisingly empowered at the maiden edition by Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, while participants were also presented with certificates of attendance at the grand finale.

We want to assure Lagosians that we will continue to make laws and pass motions and resolutions that will bring progress to Lagos and protect the interests of residents. "That's the assurance that I have from the 39 other members-elect," Dr Obasa told journalists at the event which had Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat in attendance. A total of 38 lawmakers-elect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and two from the opposition received their Certificate of Return. The Speaker thanked his constituents in Agege and Lagosians for their support for the APC. "I thank my people in Agege for their consistency, loyalty and support at all times. And to Lagosians, we say thank you. At least APC has 38 lawmakers-elect out of the 40 for the House of Assembly. We have three senatorial seats and a whole lot in the House of Representatives. We are very happy about this and have reasons to thank Lagosians. "We are going to support the Governor in his assignments to bring growth and progress to Lagos State as well as protect the lives and property of our people. However, supporting the executive arm does not mean we are going to compromise or abandon our constitutionally guaranteed responsibilities," Obasa said. He expressed optimism that Lagos will benefit from the centre in the next administration because "we have a President-elect that we all have absolute confidence in and who had done very well in Lagos State with a good track record. "We are sure that with him, many of our national challenges would be resolved because he has the capacity and knowledge to deliver. I do not doubt in my mind about it."

IKODIV 2023: 2ND EDITION OF IKORODU TRADE FAIR INTEGRATES MORE BUSINESSES, CREATES PEOPLE-ORIENTED TRANSACTIONS ®™√ INN Nigeria © 393ok3kekemm2540913322324610780 The business stimulative nature of the 2nd edition of Ikorodu Trade Fair also known as IKODIV has spurred the Lagos State Governor, Mr Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu to reaffirm his aim at providing a conducive environment and enabling business growth in the State. A collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, and the Lagos State University of Science and Technology, LASUSTECH, the Ikorodu Division Expo is organised by the Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI). Held at the LASUSTECH campus, It is organised to energise small-scale enterprises, recognising their key potential to an inclusive and sustainable recovery for economic development. The official opening of the trade fair peaked on Monday, 27th of March 2023, with likes of royal personalities; HRM, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, HRM, Oba Abdul-Semiu Oyebo, Obateru of Egbin Kingdom, HRM, Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, HRM, Oba Mudashiru Ajibade-Agoro, Ranodu of Imota and HRM, Oba (Engr) Bashir Aremu Sotonwa, the Sekumade of Ipakodo were all in attendance. Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Dr. (Mrs.) Lola Akande at the opening ceremony, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Adetutu Ososanya, affirmed that the administration of Governor Sanwo-Olu is intentional about implementing programmes and projects meant to support businesses in the State. She explained that projects like the Lekki Deep Sea Port in Ibeju Lekki; Lagos Rice Mill in Imota, here in Ikorodu; 18.75km Eleko-Epe six-lane rigid pavement expressway; the first phase of the 13 kilometres Lagos Blue Light Rail and others are all meant to enhance the State economy business scale. "Without doubt, these projects are already impacting labour and many enterprises positively in different parts of the State". "Ultimately, MSMEs will form the greater percentage of beneficiaries as they work towards the sustainable recovery for economic development" Mrs Akande added. Over 100 product exhibitors enlisted for the trade extravaganza, showcasing their unique products and services. The President, of Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Chief Kayode Shoderu expressed his delight in the organisation of the Expo, which he described as part of the commitment to building sustainable MSMEs. According to Chief Shoderu, reiterating his earlier statement at the press conference before the launch, the Trade Fair (IKODIV) gives a platform to showcase products and services while exploring opportunities for growth and innovation. The Keynote Speaker and Lagos State Chairman, of the Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), Dr Adams Adebayo emphasised the need to support MSMEs as they are the backbone of every economy. Dr Adams eliminated that the challenges confronting the MSMEs varied and include access to low-interest loans, inadequate infrastructure, subsistence and manual production, mindset and lack of innovative ideas. He continued, "Relevant institutions must create access to low-interest funds for entrepreneurs to access while there is a need for MSMEs to scale up their production to meet local and export needs". "I also want to advise the Government to create a three-year pre-retirement entrepreneurship/investment window to transform public servants into entrepreneurs", he stated. In his brief address, the Vice-Chancellor, of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya averred that the Trade Fair is an opportunity to grow the economy of the Ikorodu Division. Prof. Odusanya explained that focusing on the MSME sector can transform even the nation's economy and lift people out of poverty.
