INSECURITY: IGP ACQUIRES, DEPLOYS 3 ASISGUARD SONGAR ARMED DRONES TO STRATEGIC LOCATIONS, ORDERS TOTAL CLAMP DOWN ON NON STATE ACTORS, CRIMINALS ®™√ INN Nigeria © 000000222222161771213764749302 The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba psc(+), NPM, NEAPS, FDC, CFR, has acquired three (3) high-powered Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for improved armed surveillance operations to checkmate criminal activities in the country as a further manifestation of the IGP's determination to integrate the use of innovative technology in the law enforcement duties of the Nigeria Police Force. The newly acquired drones will surely assist the Police in monitoring active crime scenes, coordinating response operations, and providing armed aerial support to officers on reconnaissance operations. The 3 newly acquired UAVs are rotary-wing aircraft capable of flying up to an altitude of 1000ft with high operational endurance and the capacity of firing at acquired threats and targets from reasonable distances. The Nigeria Police Airwing has equally concluded training for the operators of the drones in partnership with foreign experts who have been consulted for training and maintenance of the drones. The IGP has directed the immediate, and strategic deployment of these drones based on necessity while noting that three (3) more UAVs of the same specifications are still expected in the shortest possible time. The IGP while reiterating the constant deployment and judicious use of the drones, ordered a total clamp down on non-state actors and criminals in Nigeria, and similarly warned criminal elements across the country to steer clear and turn a new leaf else the environment would not conducive to them, and they may meet their waterloo soonest. The Inspector-General of Police has further re-emphasized the firm determination of his administration to continue to explore the use of technology in the fight against crime and criminality while seeking full cooperation from members of the public on intelligence gathering and vigilance.

In response to the growing security challenges in almost all parts of Lagos State and Nigeria in general, with clear intent to execute proactive measures in bolstering the security architecture of Ikorodu Division, Chairmen of the Local Government Area and the Local Council Development areas (I.e Hon Wasiu Adesina {Ikorodu LG}, Bldr Sesan Daini {Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA}, Hon Sulaimon Olarewaju {Ikorodu West LCDA}, Hon Motunrayo Gbadebo Alogba {Ijede LCDA}, Prince Wasiu Agoro {Imota LCDA} and Bldr Adeola Adebisi Banjo {Ikorodu North LCDA} in Ikorodu Division held a security meeting/press conference on the 8th of March 2022 at Ikorodu local government secretariat Indexed as a Joint Peace and Security committee meeting of Ikorodu local government and its local council development area (LCDA's) in consonance with its legal and Constitutional duties and responsibilities, the press announcement was set up to inform the general public about the security circumstances within the Division and plans by the council chiefs to make the community safer. With CSP Mike Adeosun (DPO Ipakodo), CSP Aderemi Balogun (DPO Ikorodu), CSP Justin Uro (DPO Imota), CSP Adekunle Omisakin (DPO Shagamu), Administrators from the NDLEA and NSCDC in attendance (including members of the press), the meeting propelled the continual obligation by the council bosses towards the security of lives and properties in Ikorodu Division, conducted at working with the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian military, paramilitary establishment, as well as all lawful and constitutional corporate bodies, registered entities, traditional institutions, political leaders, among others. According to Hon Wasiu Adesina (Executive chairman of Ikorodu local government) in his official joint statement signed by all 6 council bosses in Ikorodu Division, "We shall neither withdraw nor vacate our primacy, and duties of making sure that the good and patriotic people of Ikorodu Division are not left unprotected from any form of unconstitutional and unlawful actions manipulated not only to bring down the efforts of the government but also to make Ikorodu Division people vulnerable to all manners of fierce characteristics" "With the provision made by the Constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria on principles of democracy and social justice, which states that sovereignty belongs to the people of Nigeria from whom government through this Constitution derives all its powers and authority, the Security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government and the participation by the people in their government shall be ensured by the provisions of this Constitution" "We, the Chairmen of the Local Government Area and the Local Council Development Areas in Ikorodu Division of Lagos State in Nigeria, hereby state as follows: (A) All private security outfits (registered or yet to be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission) and/or Vigilantes and/or any other entities, however so described, with interest in security in Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Nigeria must be registered and/or officially documented with their local government and the local council development areas where they intend to operate. (B) In registering, all private security outlets (registered or yet to be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission) and/or Vigilantes and/or any other entity, however so described with interest in security in Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Nigeria, must submit the profiles (Resumes) of all their directors and personnel as well as their equipment (arms and ammunition) to the local government and local council development areas where they intend to operate for onward submission to the Nigeria Police Force and other government-established security outfits" "The chairmen of Local Government and the Local Council Development Areas in Ikorodu Division shall only be willing and ready to work with private security outfits (registered or yet to be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission) and entities, however, described with interest in security in Ikorodu Division of Vigilantes and/or any other entity Lagos State Government that have satisfied the above requirements" "It is directed that all private security outfits (registered or yet to be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission) and/or Vigilantes and/or any other entities, however so described, with interest in security in Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Nigeria that has not satisfied the requirements above prohibited from carrying out any form of activities or launching or inauguration, however, Called in any part of the Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Nigeria. OVER 300 RESIDENT GETS FREE HEALTH CHECK-UP, DRUGS & CONSULTATION, COMMUNITY MEDICS TAKES OFF IN IGBOGBO BAIYEKU LCDA ®™√ INN Nigeria © 44ok4m4mm3m302597401774760105 Dwellers of Selewu community in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA were crammed with gratitude and commendation towards Princess Abiodun Islamiyat Oyefusi, as she kick-starts her free health scheme tagged 'Community Medics' across Lagos State. The daughter of the former Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom launched her highly publicised medical program on the 3rd of June 2023. Despite the downpour which occur in the early hours of the day, Princess Abiodun Oyefusi took her team of medical experts and volunteer workers to the community and sets up canopies and chairs to cater to residents, who enlisted to profit from the health-oriented scheme. From diabetes, Blood Pressure tests, to malaria and other medical treatments, the program gave residents sufficient aid, culminating with medical physicians on the ground to advise patients with complicated health issues. A dispensary point was also created to administer free drugs to beneficiaries, as residents applauded the laudable health scheme. Speaking to members of the Press who were present, Princess Abiodun Oyefusi described the program as a means for her to support communities in Lagos State. She explained that health is vital to the well-being of every individual, which made it paramount for her to tilt towards creating the community medics initiative. "This program will randomly touch selected communities around Lagos State, I only choose to start in Ikorodu because it's my base, and as you know, charity begins from home". "Most times, people are afraid to go to the hospital for a minor check-up which would give a remedy to their health challenges, they refuse because they believe it's expensive". "That is why am propelling this course as a form of a mobile clinic to reach neighbourhoods and cater to their numerous illnesses before it gets complicated," Princess Oyefusi said Tirimisyu Uthman, a youth corper, who resides in Selewu town lauded the organisers of the program. He cheered the orderliness and effective coordination of the health scheme, which he participated in along with his father. Communicating further, he said, "The process is fast and organisers are doing a very favourable job". "I've seen medical programs like this, and before you realize it, medical practitioners will start requesting money for some particular services, but here, I can say there is nothing of such, it is free from start to finish". "If this health program is run by a private individual then I must commend their efforts towards achieving this course" Uthman asserted Another resident, Mrs Ebi Johnson conveyed joy and thanked the organisers for bringing the health program to their community. Mrs Johnson, who explained the significance of the program to herself, said the program has assisted her in reducing the cost of going to the pharmacy to undergo tests and acquire drugs. She and her 10yr old daughter gained from the program. "With a program like this, we'll easily detect sickness in our body that we're not mindful of, and also prevent lingering illness from our body" She added. In all, over 300 residents benefited from the program.

ZEBRA CROSSING: IKORODU PECULIAR LIONS CLUB CREATES SAFE CROSSING PATH FOR SHAMS-EL-DEEN SCHOOL STUDENTS IN IKORODU ®™√ INN Nigeria © eooekemmdmm3976505122441808413 Principal of Shams-EL-Deen Junior Grammar School, Ikorodu, Mrs Kadijat Bolatito Adedeji, conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to members of Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club, on the implementation of a Zebra crossing project for the school. The undertaking was completed by the club on the 2nd of June 2023, aimed at safeguarding students using the road subway during the school's morning and afternoon duration. Mrs Adedeji, impressed with the freewill task of the club, said the supportive job won a special place in her heart because it prioritises the safety of her pupils. According to the Principal, a safety program she had earlier attended, gave her the growing concern to assemble a similar project for the school (due to how motorists operate the road). She tells further, "I never knew how to make it happen, so it was a stuff of amazement watching the club coming out of the blue to get it done for our children". "With zebra crossing like this, it will make drivers careful in moving through this axis and keep our students safe as well". "I cannot thank members of Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club enough for what they've done to aid the school, but I know that my God will bless them tremendously" She asserted. Illustrating the essence of the project to the students and school officials (who came out collectively to inspect the work), Lion David Akinosho, Charter President of Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club, said Zebra crossing is a prudent footpath that serves as a caution to motorists. He continued, "The importance of this track is to assist students in traversing the road, and prevent drivers from steering recklessly". "Any driver who understands what driving is all about is meant to slow down immediately they set their sight on this Zebra crossing track". "It is a crime (and punishable offence) for motorists not to stop or decelerate, particularly when someone is utilising this route to cross the road," He said. Lion Akinosho further urged the students not to abuse the use of the pathway since they've comprehended its usage, adding that their manner of maintaining the walkway will make other road users do the same. He subsequently instructed the students to take the information given to them about the Zebra crossing to the rest of their classmates and even to their parents at home. The project was supervised by Lion Kayode Aluko, Project Coordinator, Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club.
