The ultimate movie enticement centre in Ikorodu, Labi Oasis theatre is propelling a unique valentine’s film extravaganza for lovers this season.

National Chairman of the Association of Local Government Vice Chairmen of Nigeria (ALGOVC) & Executive Vice Chairman Ikorodu LGA, Aarebirin Honourable (Dr) Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba has lengthened her goodwill message to the paramount ruler of Ikorodu Kingdom, HRM, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi as the king marks his birthday.
Folashade-Oba, Founder of Asiwaju Distinguished Ambassadors Movement (ADAM) and President, Shelter of Grace Foundation in a brief message to Ikorodu News Network (INN) prayed for the Ayangburen of Ikorodu kingdom to rise perpetually on the throne in rich and abundant divine blessings.

It was an outflow of eulogies at the industry night dedicated to the late Nigerian filmmaker and entertainment executive, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe.
The tribute program was held on the 2nd of February 2023, at the National Arts Theatre in Iganmu Lagos, and brought together veterans in the Nollywood sector, including the Lagos State commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Uzamat Akinbile Yussuf.
An all-white gathering, the Anyiam-Osigwe family fluttered as celebrities took turns, conveying their condolences, characterising the ace movie producer and President of the Association of Movie producers of Nigeria as a trailblazer who left indelible imprints on the sands of time.
In her short, the honourable commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, States, “Peace Ayiam-Osihwe, for the short time that I came to know and encounter her was an outstanding personality, trailblazer, pathfinder, go-getter, humanitarian, and one-of-a-kind creative and visionary leader in the film and television industry”.
“She left indelible imprints on the sands of time and her legacy must not be abandoned by the entertainment sector,”.
“The news of her death was shocking and a huge loss to the Nigerian industry, my heartfelt consolation to her family” Mrs Akinbile asserted.
From the leap, Nigerian Gospel star, Buchi Atuonwu, who serenaded guests in attendance with his gospel tunes, depicted Anyiam-Osigwe as a pillar in the Nigerian entertainment industry who must not be sobbed over but celebrated for a life well accomplished here on earth.
According to Buchi, Jesus Christ (the only begotten son of God) spent only 33yrs on earth, yet he’s celebrated for accomplishing the greatest assignment to mankind.
“It is not about the number of years you spent, but what you accomplish while here that matters. We must live a purposeful life like our dear sister Peace, that’s why she is loved by many today” Buchi added
The all-white confluence was anchored by Ambassador Dr Queen Blessing Ebigieson and harmonised by Nollywood actor, Keppy Ekpenyong-Bassey.
Award-winning Nigerian actress and producer, Joke Silva, described the late Peace as an industry daughter to her husband, Olu Jacobs.
According to Mrs Joke, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe took actors and actresses in Nigeria across Africa, bestowing Nollywood with more formidable merits.
“One thing nobody can take away from her is how she prolifically packaged the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), which for me is the African OSCARS”.
“For the legacy, she’s left in the industry, her family should not hesitate to call on us for any support that will keep her philosophy and memory at the frontiers of our realm” Mrs Joke concluded.
Also acknowledging during his tribute, former Association of Movie Producers (AMP) President, Mr Paul Obazele, said Anyiam-Osigwe’s lifetime had been impactful in the filmmaking industry, citing her as a backbone to many.
Her death is a big blow to Nigeria and, most notably, the entertainment industry as a whole”.

More tributes came in from the Nollywood Presidents of Guilds and Associations, ED National Video and Film censors board, Jetta Amata, and Segun Arinze, before the remarks by the Anyiam-Osigwe family.
In his sober assertions, Ralph Nwadike sympathised with the family, the Association of Movie Producers and the entire Nollywood industry on the demise of the renowned filmmaker and Founder of the African Movie Academy Awards, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe.
He shared his close working experience with the late Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, referring to her as one of the pillars of Nollywood in Nigeria.
“She was a bundle of talent and one of the best filmmakers not only in Nigeria but also on the African continent”.
“She used her God-given talent to advance the course of mankind and contributed immensely to the creative sector through African Movie Academy Awards and African Film Academy” Ralph Nwadike added.
Later speaking to news reporters during the event, Popular comedy actor, Victor Osuagwu said, “Madam Peace, as she’s fondly called, is one of Nollywood’s biggest advocates and promoters globally, who played instrumental roles in the careers of different talents, both old and new”.
“She catapulted the Anyiam-Osigwe name, and engaged herself in various charities to uplift the poor and downtrodden,” Victor Osuagwu elucidated.
A candlelight procession was also held in honour of the departed movie producer.
Late Peace Anyiam-Osigwe was the founder of the African Movie Academy Awards and the President of the Association of Movie Producers.
She died on the 9th of January 2023.

Less than one week after its maiden stakeholder meeting, the Ikorodu Media Forum (IMF), a body of Ikorodu Division-based Media Practitioners, stakeholders and Bloggers has continued to receive support and endorse Division-based stakeholders.

According to its Convener, Omo’ba Peju Akinyemi Founder / CEO of Ikorodu Oga Online Radio the group was established on the tripod of Unity, Professionalism and Welfare of members.

“It is also intended to better the media practice in the Ikorodu Division of Lagos State and to further reposition the media sector in Ikorodu Division”, he stated.

The second stakeholders meeting of the body held on Sunday was well attended by journalists, bloggers and other media professionals on the 29th of January 2023 at the Public Service Club in Ikorodu.

Some of the media outlets that graced the second meeting were stakeholders from; The Factor News Magazine, Blackbox Media, IKD Radio 106.1, Ajasa Info and Ikorodu News Network (INN), while some others who could not attend expressed delight and pledged their support for the newly formed organisation.

Underlining its purpose and objectives, the meeting afforded stakeholders the opportunity for cross-fertilization of ideas among themselves.

Com. Japhet Odesanya, Publisher of The Factor News Magazine lauded the initiative, stating that the media sector has come a long way to witness such a unifying forum in Ikorodu Division.

Emphasizing growth and content quality, Com. Odesanya underscored the need for respective media outlets to also elevate their practices by putting more professional touch to their content before circulation.

Urging the Convener to keep the platform open to accommodate more practitioners, Odesanya asserted that the strength tapped from a collective standpoint should never be taken with levity.

Advising the new-media practitioners present, Odesanya continued, “A lot of factors have affected the ethics of journalism today, but fortunately the sector has continued to provide room for inspired individuals to grow their intellectual capacity”.

“Nevertheless, the forum (as an alliance) should create room for constant learning and improvement of its stakeholders, this would give value to the profession we hold with high esteem”.

“I am optimistic this time that, unlike other failed attempts to build a formidable media forum, IMF would set the pace and give the media sector in Ikorodu the value it deserves” Odesanya concluded.

Co-founder of Blackbox Nigeria, Kayode Badmus applauded the vision of IMF, pleading with the Convener to work on modalities that would enhance the welfare and economic empowerment of practitioners.

According to Badmus, “the media sector welcomes fresh intellects, band ut sustaining the outlet is a major challenge which a lot of enterprises suffer from”.

“I expect to reckon that with a forum like IMF, the interest of our profession will be prioritised while our profession is given due recognition it deserves”.

Badmus further urged interested members of the forum to stay committed to the course, adding that the end will always justify the means.

In his closing remarks, Omo’ba Akinyemi thanked the stakeholders for the honour of their presence and their robust contributions to the success of the initiative.

He noted that the Ikorodu Media Forum (Was an idea whose time has come and would soon become the rallying point of all and sundry.

IKORODU MEDIA FORUM SET TO UNIFY, STANDARDIZE MEDIA PRACTICE IN IKORODU DIVISION, BODY TO PROMOTE MEMBER’S WELFARE ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

A body of media practitioners who are based in Ikorodu have come together, under the aegis of Ikorodu Media Forum (IMF).

The group which held its inaugural strategic meeting on Thursday had select pioneer members from Ikorodu Constituency 1 and 2 in attendance.

Ikorodu Media Forum, also known as IMF is a conglomerate of media practitioners across the Ikorodu Division of Lagos State.

Explaining the rationale behind the formation of the forum, Omo’ba ‘Peju Akinyemi, Chairman, Steering Committee of the group and founder, Ikorodu Oga Radio, explained that, IMF was established to be a bridge between traditional and new media practitioners, otherwise known as bloggers.

He added that the forum was aimed at strengthening the activities of the Fourth Estate of the Realm in the discharge of its duties across the Division.

Shortly after its inaugural meeting held on Thursday, 26th of January 2023, Omo’ba Akinyemi clarified that the body was put together to engender the need for unity, professionalism and collectivism by promoting healthy competition among practitioners.

According to Akinyemi, the group will also facilitate regular training and retraining of members, promote economic empowerment and foster media standardisation/regulations.

“In a nutshell, we aim to propagate unity, professionalism and member’s welfare in entirety”, he asserted.

The meeting was held at the public service club in Ikorodu.

The group is presently developing a blueprint that would reposition media practice in the Division.

Also in attendance were; Mr Shakiru Seidu, Publisher of Mega Expression Magazine, Niyi Soyibo, Publisher of the News Extremist and Eromona Michael, Coordinator, Ikorodu News Network (INN).

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon Adeola Adebisi Banjo who ran into the meeting expressed delight at the development while promising his local council support for the group.
