The Media Office of the Deputy Governor in a Rejoinder titled ‘Lagos Deputy Governor, Hamzat takes Oath of Allegiance to Renounce Nigeria – Immigration Lawyer’ and issued to journalists on Friday, said the reports are not true reflections of the record of proceedings of the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal of June 21, 2023.
The Media Office stated that “There is nowhere in the verifiable record of proceedings of the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal of 21st of June 2023, when the evidence of one Miss Olubusayo Fasidi, a U.S immigration lawyer, was taken to support the misleading online reports that the incumbent Deputy Governor of Lagos State has renounced his Nigerian Citizenship. “In a bid to advance the course of the Labour Party outside of the proceedings of the Election Tribunal, the reports have deliberately set out to mislead members of the general public and to whip up sentiments against the incumbent Governor of Lagos State, and his Deputy.”
The Deputy Governor Media Office, therefore advised members of the public to disregard the deliberate falsehood being bandied about regarding the status of the citizenship of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State. Commenting on the proceeding of the tribunal on June 21, the Deputy Governor Media Office stated that “the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal took the evidence of one Miss Olubusayo Fasidi, a U.S immigration lawyer who admitted to practising in the United States of America.
“She was subpoenaed by the Petitioner to give evidence as to the status of the 3rd Respondent as a Nigerian Citizen before the Tribunal. However, Objections were raised as regards her status as a subpoenaed Witness, given that she had no Written Statement on Oath before the Tribunal; moreover, her Written Statement on Oath, filed out of time was eventually withdrawn by the Counsel to the Petitioner. “Notwithstanding the Objections, the Tribunal in her overriding wisdom allowed the Witness to proceed to give oral evidence and reserved its ruling as regards the Objections raised till the final judgement. Thus, during the Examination-in-Chief, the said subpoenaed witness tendered two documents namely, a blank Form of Application for U.S Naturalization and a blank Oath of U.S Allegiance Document, tagged Forms 8CFR/337 and N400 respectively which were admitted and marked as Exhibits. “When the witness was confronted with the fact that the only two documents, she was basing her claims on, were merely downloaded blank documents, the witness stated that she had downloaded the blank documents from the official website of the US Embassy. The witness was thus unable to produce the actual documents, the specific jurisdiction of the United States and the particular date when the 3rd Respondent applied for naturalization or took the purported Oath of Allegiance. She equally admitted that she had not attended the ceremony admitting Dr Hamzat as a citizen of the United States of America.
“The testimony of the witness in question is under serious challenge and in its final judgment the Tribunal will decide whether her testimony is admissible, given that she did not file a witness statement on oath and the self-contradiction of still using a Nigerian passport whilst claiming to have renounced Nigerian citizenship.”

REJOINDER: ‘LAGOS DEPUTY GOVERNOR, HAMZAT TAKES OATH OF ALLEGIANCE TO RENOUNCE NIGERIA – IMMIGRATION LAWYER’
Introduction/ Background
Our attention has been drawn to inaccurate reports of the proceedings of the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, circulating on various online platforms to the effect that - ‘Lagos Deputy Governor, Renounced Nigerian Citizenship’ The aforestated is not what transpired at the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on the 21st of June 2023. In a bid to advance the course of the Labour Party outside of the proceedings of the Election Tribunal, the reports have deliberately set out to mislead members of the general public and to whip up sentiments against the incumbent Governor of Lagos State, and his Deputy. The Distortion of The Proceedings At The Tribunal
The truth of what transpired at the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which is verifiable from the Records of the Tribunal, and accessible to the public, is detailed below:
On the 21st of June 2023, the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal took the evidence of one Miss Olubusayo Fasidi, a U.S. immigration lawyer who admitted to practising in the United States of America. She was subpoenaed by the Petitioner to give evidence as to the status of the 3rd Respondent as a Nigerian Citizen before the Tribunal. However, Objections were raised as regards her status as a subpoenaed Witness, given that she had no Written Statement on Oath before the Tribunal; moreover, her Written Statement on Oath, filed out of time was eventually withdrawn by the Counsel to the Petitioner. Notwithstanding the Objections, the Tribunal in her overriding wisdom allowed the Witness to proceed to give oral evidence and reserved its ruling as regards the Objections raised till the final judgement. Thus, during the Examination-in-Chief, the said subpoenaed witness tendered two documents namely, a blank Form of Application for U.S Naturalization and a blank Oath of U.S Allegiance Document, tagged Forms 8CFR/337 and N400 respectively which were admitted and marked as Exhibits. When the witness was cross-examined by the 1st Respondent’s (INEC) Counsel- the witness was asked whether she was a Nigerian citizen, and she answered in the affirmative. Concerning the question of whether the witness is a citizen of the United States of America, she equally answered in the affirmative; having naturalized before that time.
When Counsel further asked the witness whether she has renounced her Nigerian Citizenship, the witness responded in the affirmative. The witness confirmed she was familiar with the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution however she declined to respond to questions bordering on the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution regarding dual citizenship and renunciation of citizenship (as provided for in sections 28 and 29 of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution (as amended), on the premise that her evidence is limited to her knowledge of the Immigration law of the United States of America, without more.
During cross-examination by Counsel for the 2nd and 3rd Respondents (the incumbent Governor and Deputy Governor of Lagos State), enquired from the witness whether she entered the country with a Nigerian visiting visa, given her claims of renouncing her Nigerian citizenship, but the witness said she did not need a Nigerian visiting visa because she still retained her Nigerian passport.
The witness was asked about the nature of her relationship with one Anna Nweke, to which she responded that Anna Nweke was the person who attested to the documents (Forms 8CFR/337 and N400) that she tendered as exhibits, as to where the attestation was done, she said that the attestation was done upon her arrival in Lagos State, Nigeria.
When the witness was confronted with the fact that the only two documents, she was basing her claims on, were merely downloaded blank documents, the witness stated that she had downloaded the blank documents from the official website of the US Embassy. The witness was thus unable to produce the actual documents, the specific jurisdiction of the United States and the particular date when the 3rd Respondent applied for naturalization or took the purported Oath of Allegiance. She equally admitted that she had not attended the ceremony admitting Dr Hamzat as a citizen of the United States of America.
During her cross-examination by Counsel to the 4th Respondent (APC), the witness admitted to the fact that the American Constitution recognizes dual citizenship with particular reference to the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States ratified on July 9, 1868. The witness was challenged further that the documents she tendered support the process of application for naturalization which ultimately culminates in the issuance of an American passport and nothing more.
The witness in reaction to additional questions confirmed that she did not need to obtain a Nigerian Visiting Visa because she entered the country with her Nigerian Passport.
Concerning the question of whether the witness was aware that the 3rd Respondent fully disclosed the details of his American Citizenship in Form EC9 submitted to INEC, the witness answered in the affirmative. When the witness was again asked whether she had ever sighted the Oath of Allegiance of US Citizenship Form of the 3rd Respondent, the witness responded in the negative. Conclusion/Advisory
Flowing from the above, there is nowhere in the verifiable record of proceedings of the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal of 21st of June 2023, when the evidence of one Miss Olubusayo Fasidi, a U.S immigration lawyer, was taken to support the misleading online reports that the incumbent Deputy Governor of Lagos State has renounced his Nigerian Citizenship. Members of the public are hereby advised to disregard the deliberate falsehood being bandied about regarding the status of the citizenship of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State. The testimony of the witness in question is under serious challenge and in its final judgment the Tribunal will decide whether her testimony is admissible, given that she did not file a witness statement on oath and the self-contradiction of still using a Nigerian passport whilst claiming to have renounced Nigerian citizenship.

He also restated his commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind in the governance structure with the human-centric THEMES+ agenda, saying that both soft and hard infrastructure will receive adequate attention.
Governor Sanwo-Olu spoke on Sunday at the second term inauguration thanksgiving service held for him and his deputy, Deputy Dr Obafemi Hamzat, at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos.
The thanksgiving service, which was held simultaneously in all the five divisions of Lagos State - Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe marked the end of activities to celebrate the Governor and his deputy's second term inauguration. The services took place at Archbishop Vining Memorial Anglican Church, Ikeja; Freeman Methodist Cathedral Church, opposite Oba’s Palace, Badagry; Methodist Church, Ikorodu; Cathedral Church, Marina, Lagos Island; St. Patrick Anglican Church, Epe and Christ The Light Chapel, CBD, Alausa, Ikeja.
The Governor attended the Thanksgiving Service at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina with his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and wife Oluremi Hamzat; the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, former members of the State Executive Council, Body of Permanent Secretaries, traditional, religious and political leaders, among others.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said the thanksgiving service is important to acknowledge God’s help to individuals, Lagos State and Nigeria, as well as committing the second term of his administration into God’s hand.
He said: "We started by thanking God on Friday at our various divisional mosques and today we are here at church to continue to acknowledge the Almighty God who has helped us as a state and nation. We also want to commit at the beginning of our second tenure to ask God for directions and to put everything in front of Almighty God. "It will certainly be a second term that Lagosians should expect a lot more from us. What we have that sed is a THEMES+ agenda which is human-centric. It is an agenda that takes into account everything in THEMES agenda and adds a bigger flavour to it- a plus component, which itself will ensure that no one is left behind. "We have learned from the last four years and we want to build a better inclusive governance in which not only will we be doing a lot of hard infrastructure but will also want to do a lot of soft infrastructure since that will touch the lives of our people directly; specifically palliatives that will bring succour and better relief for our citizens even in a difficult time with global economic issues. "Our citizens need to understand that though the government cannot do everything, we need to be able to bring them out of poverty and speak to what their needs are. So it is a purposeful human-centric agenda that will ensure that no one, no gender, no tribe or religion will be left behind. And we are holding ourselves accountable to that."
In his sermon on ‘Unity: Catalyst for Godly Possibilities’, the Provost of the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Very Revd. Dr Adebola Ojofeitimi urged the people to remain united so that things can work effectively. He urged Lagosians to embrace and work for the unity of Lagos State and Nigeria. This, the Provost said, would help to build a vibrant state and country for the collective good of all.
The cleric said it was through unity that Lagos was able to witness monumental achievements which included the rail projects and robust transportation system in the state among other developmental growth in the first term of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration.
He said: "In Lagos, we have noticed progress because we are united. In Lagos, we have peace because we are united. The last state executive council worked with the Governor and that is why we can celebrate a lot of achievements in Lagos State.
"Let us work for the unity of the Church of Christ, Lagos State and Nigeria. We must work for our collective good. Let us come together to build the Church of Christ, Lagos State and Nigeria."

fb img 16853664508099178761542173265346 There is more progress to come as Lagos State steadily journeys into the unfolding dispensation, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu reassured Lagosians as he took the oath to kick off his second term, on Monday. The morning downpour could not water down the Governor’s will and determination to renew his pledge to Lagos citizens before whom he stood at the amphitheatre of Tafawa Balewa Square, where the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Kazeem Alogba, administered the oath on him.
Sanwo-Olu was sworn in at exactly 11:50 am, after which the Governor stepped forward to give a thorough account of stewardship of his first term. Enumerating transformations recorded by the State since 2019 under his leadership, the Governor noted that Lagos had lived up to its billing as the Center of Excellence. The State, he said, became the first sub-national to deliver an intracity rail network from its balance sheet to aid mass mobility in the mega city.
This, the Governor said, has further advanced the State’s development course, just as the completion of Lekki Deep Seaport has enhanced socio-economic growth and turned the State into a new logistics hub of West Africa. He said the delivery of the largest rice mill in Imota by his administration was a game changer that would make Lagos a key player in the food production chain on the continent.
Sanwo-Olu said Lagos had remained on the track of sustenance and prosperity, pointing out that his Government’s financial engineering led to the upgrade of the State to AAA(nga) status in financial sustainability and resilience by Fitch International - a feat unprecedented in the State’s annals.
The Governor, sharing his catalogue of achievements, also listed other notable progress made by Lagos, especially in expanding infrastructure to enhance the intermodal transport system, healthcare services, education, aesthetic environment, social interventions and other areas across his administration’s development agenda.
“In my first term, we set the stage for transformative change. We confronted significant challenges, from improving our infrastructure to ensuring adequate social services, from grappling with economic downturns to navigating a global pandemic. Yet, we never faltered. Our challenges became stepping-stones and our trials, the foundation of our resilience,” Sanwo-Olu said.
Despite fulfilling some of his pledges, the Governor said there would be much more to be accomplished in the coming days as his final term begins. He said the swearing-in offered him an opportunity to acknowledge the expectations of the electorate, and to rededicate his administration towards meeting and surpassing the people’s expectations.
Sanwo-Olu said his vision was beyond the provision of physical infrastructure and working to attain good economic indicators for the State; he said he would govern to make Lagos a beacon of cultural vibrancy, intellectual prowess, and humanistic values. The Governor, in his inauguration address, expanded the scope of his administration’s governing T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda. He announced three additional areas of focus in which the State Government would intensify intervention in the next four years, including Social Inclusion, Gender Equality and Youth.
He said: “That tradition of progressive governance, of enlightened leadership, has consistently yielded fruit for us, and set Lagos up as a model State. We have lived up to our designation as Centre of Excellence, and a day like this is an opportunity to celebrate. Our people still expect a lot more from us in several areas; today is another opportunity to acknowledge our citizens’ expectations and to rededicate ourselves to meeting and surpassing those expectations. I pledge, as your Governor, to unleash greater energy in the service of Lagos. I will work tirelessly for the well-being of every Lagosian and will strive for a Lagos that we can all be proud of. “It is in line with our resolve, I am pleased to announce that we are taking our governing agenda to the next level in this second term. Henceforth, it will be known as ‘T.H.E.M.E.S Plus’, representing the incorporation of an intensified focus on Social Inclusion, Gender Equality and Youth. We are strengthening and reinforcing our governance agenda in order not to leave anyone behind on account of their social status, gender or young age; we will design all our policies and programmes to ensure that everyone is carried along and catered to. This is our solemn promise to you.”
Sanwo-Olu said his second term would be more rewarding for the residents, as the State would witness consolidation of his reforms and governance at higher levels. In the coming weeks, the Governor will be delivering another intracity rail network, Red Line Rail, which is at the completion stage. Lagos will also be witnessing the development of a new airport in Ibeju-Lekki, Deep Seaport in Badagry and Fourth Mainland Bridge in addition to other capital projects in the pipeline.
The task ahead, the Governor said, would be a collective responsibility of the Government and people, noting that he would always seek partnership with the citizens in line with his administration’s mantra. He assured that his administration would continue to foster a culture of transparency, accountability and participatory governance.
“The greatness and strength of Lagos lie in the collective spirit of our people; whether those paying taxes, or those treating public property with care and respect, or those speaking about something when they see something going wrong or someone breaking the law. For us as a government, I would be the first to acknowledge our side of this social contract. I will not let you down,” the Governor said.
Sanwo-Olu eulogised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for laying the foundation for the development of Lagos, which, he said, made it easy for the succeeding administrations to strengthen transformational governance and keep the State on the path of progress.
The Governor also thanked the immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari for dedicating kindness and support for Lagos, which enabled his administration to record many successes in the last four years. Sanwo-Olu said he was ready to continue to offer transformational leadership to the State in collaboration with his Deputy, Dr Drfemi Hamzat, whom he described as a “loyal friend, partner-in-progress”. He promised Lagos would remain a city united by its diversity, while pledging to work till his last days in creating a better future for the citizens.
He said: “At this moment of our history, it has fallen upon me to steer the ship and to move us closer than ever to the Greater Lagos of our dreams. As I promised four years ago, the glitz of office will not change my personality and I will not try to become something I am not. I have strived to serve excellently, with humility, compassion, with a listening ear, bending where necessary to demonstrate that people’s welfare is at the centre of our actions.
“I am sending a reminder to Lagosians that this land belongs to all of us, and all of us who call it home must partake in its goodness. Regardless of what language we speak, where we trace our ancestry to, where in Lagos we live, or what religion we profess; regardless of age or gender or political party, and regardless of how long we have called this land home; we are all united by something deep and immutable, which is our aspirations to make tomorrow better than today for us and our children.”
Thousands of residents across the State, clad in colourful attires, defied the rains to witness the historic event held at Onikan. The inauguration was well-attended by members of the corporate sector and diplomatic community.

3939k3k3knem8294525662510498491 Inauguration of the newly-upgraded Oba Sekumade Road in Ipakodo, Ikorodu Division, on Friday, moved the residents into spontaneous jubilation in a show of appreciation to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for fulfilling his pledge.
Sanwo-Olu commissioned the infrastructure, which now provides easy access to residential and industrial areas in Ibeshe, Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Ebute Ipakodo, Ikorodu town and Ipakodo Mega Jetty Terminal.
The Governor also rehabilitated the failed sections of T.O.S Benson Road, covering a stretch of 500 metres. To ease vehicular congestion on the T.O.S Benson Road, a comprehensive junction improvement project was carried out by the State Government to diffuse traffic towards Ikorodu Roundabout. Commuters’ experience on Oba Sekumade Road was harrowing, given its deplorable conditions. This prompted the Government to list the 2.5-kilometre single-lane roadway in the State’s strategic emergency road rehabilitation programme and was awarded for comprehensive upgrading and expansion, using Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP).
The intervention saw the busy road upgraded from a single-lane to rigid concrete dual carriageway, thereby improving connectivity and bringing relief to commuting public plying the route.
The road was the first major infrastructure project to be inaugurated by the Governor after he won his re-election two weeks ago.
Sanwo-Olu described the commissioning as a “thank you” gift for the electorate in Ikorodu Division for turning out the second largest vote number that made his party, All Progressives Congress (APC), to win the last gubernatorial election.
He said: “Today, we have come back to Ikorodu Division to show our appreciation and say big ‘Thank You’ to Ikorodu residents for keeping faith with our Government. This town has been good to our party with its outstanding voters’ support during elections. What else can we do to demonstrate our appreciation other than to come to this important base of Lagos heritage and hand over a gift of infrastructure that will bring huge benefits to the people.
“The commissioning of Oba Sekumade Road and the rehabilitation of T.O.S Benson Road point to another demonstration of what purposeful governance is all about. These projects reflect our commitment to delivering dividends of democracy and ensuring that development touches every nook and cranny of Lagos. These projects are strategic to strengthen various interventions initiated to improve traffic management on this axis. The hardship being experienced by drivers has been resolved, as we have enhanced connectivity and reduced journey time.”
Sanwo-Olu said the Ikorodu Division would further reap more infrastructure benefits during his second term, stressing that the State Government had gotten the assurance of contractors to accelerate construction work on other infrastructure projects being constructed in the area.
The Governor particularly mentioned the ongoing construction of Agric-Isawo Road, which the contractor had pushed to 60 per cent completion. He pledged there would be an improvement in the pace of work on the Ewu Elepe-Gberigbe Road, Igbogbo-Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road and Adamo-Agunfoye Road construction. He also charged Lagos State Public Works Corporation to race up the work on Igbogbo-Baiyeku Road to improve connectivity within the axis.
Sanwo-Olu said the traffic interchange being developed at Ita Elewa Roundabout will change the transportation landscape of Ikorodu when completed. The project, currently at 55 per cent completion, will open a new BRT corridor within Ikorodu. He said: “What we are about is ensuring that the next four years come with bigger dividends delivered faster than we have done in our first tenure. There will be accelerated development across the city in the next dispensation. Ikorodu is part of the Greater Lagos that is rising.
“In the next couple of months, we will be doing groundbreaking for the Fourth Mainland Bridge, which will cut across major sections on Sagamu-Ikorodu Expressway before finally opening to Lagos Ibadan Expressway. We are committed to delivering this project in our second term to completely open Ikorodu to the world.”
Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Aramide Adeyoye said the upgrade of Oba Sekumade Road to a rigid pavement dual carriageway did not only solve traffic problems experienced on the highway but also solved flooding issues threatening adjoining residential communities.
She said the State Government’s insistence on sustainable infrastructure, adequate drainage channels, and quality lighting facilities on the road underscored the Sanwo-Olu administration's commitment to high standards.
“I believe that with the rehabilitation and upgrade of this road, the challenge of flooding and inadequate capacity will now become a thing of the past. This in turn will also translate into the improved free flow of traffic and a much-needed reduction in travel time for the business owners in the area and the motoring public at large,” she said.
The Sekumade of Ipakodo, Oba Bashiru Shotonwa, described the development as ”historic”, noting that the road remained significant for the socio-economic development of Ikorodu.
The traditional ruler said the road condition worsened due to the influx of manufacturing companies and residential development, which mounted pressure on its usage.
“Mr Governor, by fulfilling your promise to us today, you have written your name in gold in the history of Ipakodo. We will continue to remember your name for good,” Oba Shotonwa said.
The member representing Ikorodu II in the House of Assembly, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, said the huge votes turned out from Ikorodu were to reciprocate the Governor’s gesture towards renewing infrastructure in the town.
The lawmaker said the rehabilitation of TOS Benson Road was the icing on the cake, as it was not part of the original project.
“These roads have brought huge relief to commuters on this axis and we can now say goodbye to flooding of our streets,” Agunbiade said.

8ojhh78256470233576825639 It was another uplifting day for Education in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA as the only female councillor in the council's legislative chamber, Princess Basirat Adetutu Banjoko rehabilitated two classrooms and provided a water tank stand/Fetching Point for Methodist Primary School Igbogbo.
The project was commissioned on Friday the 22nd of September 2023 by Chief Asipa Kaoli Olusanya and presided over by the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, Bldr. Olusesan Daini.
Receiving a high level of commendation from the school administration, Princess Basirat, the councillor of ward C1 and Deputy leader of Igbogbo Baiyeku legislative chamber, appreciated the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for a timeless mentorship. She also acknowledged Ikorodu apex leader, Asipa Kaoli, and her council boss, Bldr. Sesan Daini for leading the pack effectively, providing her with a palatable room to function.
Furthermore, she commended the Methodist primary school administration for cooperating with her towards the successful completion of the project.
According to Princess Basirat, the sole aim of the project is to help students by providing them with a better learning environment.
The program, themed; 'Maintaining A Clean Environment', she explained that the school is observing overpopulation, which causes inconveniences for pupils.
"It was due to those inconveniences that spurred me to get to work on facilitating the extra classrooms as a form of service to humanity," she said.
Speaking to Ikorodu News Network (INN), Princess Basirat illustrated that the school also lacked access to clean water which prompted her (as councillor of the ward) to provide the tank, stand and fetching point.
Urging the school administration to apply maintenance culture in preserving the resources, Princess pleads with everyone to imbibe the heart of giving.
The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo Baiyeki LCDA, Bldr. Sesan Daini, in his address dubbed the day celebratory, equally applauding the project facilitator, Princess Basirat Banjoko. Emphasising performance, Bldr Daini expressed his satisfaction towards all councillors in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA working and making things better in their numerous wards. Bringing his attention to Methodist Primary School, he said, "Seeing this project is a challenge to me!".
"As I've promised, Methodist Primary School building renovation with fully equipped furniture, and building of 8 toilets which will be commissioned in the next 50 days" Bldr Daini said.
The council boss asserted the party's developmental mandate for communities will continue to reflect in his administration as voiced during his campaign. Before commissioning the project, Chief Kaoli Olusanya praised Princess Basirat Adetutu for prioritising education, explaining that education is the first way to escape poverty.
He further encouraged the administrators of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA not to relent in fulfilling their mandate because it is a way of giving hope to the people.
Mrs. Ogunfeyimi, HeadMistress of Methodist Primary School Igbogbo praised the council chairman, Bldr. Daini and all other leaders in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA for their consistent support towards education.
Pointing out that Bldr. Daini's administration has not for once left the education sector, she encourages the leadership to keep propelling and investing in the life of the future generation around the communities.

img 20230922 wa00194052512174661337085 The chairman of the Lagos Assembly ad-hoc committee with the mandate to investigate the circumstances that led to the disappearance of Adebola Akin-Bright's small intestine, Hon. Noheem Adams, has told his colleagues that the doctor who performed surgery twice on the boy is not a qualified surgeon.
This is as the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, during plenary on Thursday, directed the Clerk, Barr. Olalekan Onafeko, to write to the State police command for the arrest of Dr. Abayomi Baiyewu of Obitoks Hospital in the Alimosho area of Lagos. Adebola died on Tuesday shortly after the House called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to further assist him seek treatment abroad.
While thanking Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his effort at the period the boy was being treated at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Speaker Obasa directed that a letter conveying the condolence message of the House be sent to the family.
Dr. Obasa further asked the committee to look into other grey areas including inviting officials of the Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA) which has the law-backed responsibility to monitor private hospitals operating in the State.
The Speaker further asked the committee to review the extant law so as to know if it should be amended just as he said private hospitals can be made to always report their activities to the government at all times.
Formally announcing Adebola's death, Hon. Adams said the boy's case was disheartening. He said when the committee visited him on Tuesday, he still spoke with the lawmakers.
He, however, said during investigation, the committee learnt from Dr. Baiyewu that he is not a surgeon but only relied on his experience as a medical doctor.
He also said Baiyewu, whose testimonies were recorded, told the committee that he did not carry out any medical examination on the boy before the first surgery which he did himself adding that he only relied on the report from a hospital the patient was first
taken to.
Noheem said after Baiyewu did the first surgery, the boy continued to complain about stomach pain and was taken back to Obitoks Hospital where Baiyewu carried out another round of surgery by himself.
Following more complications, Hon. Noheem said the boy was taken to LASUTH where it was confirmed that part of his intestine was missing.
The lawmaker said as a doctor, Baiyewu should have taken the excised part of the boy's body to a pathological department for test, but that "Dr. Baiyewu told the committee that the body parts were mistakenly discarded," and that the doctor had planned to do a third surgery before the boy was taken to LASUTH.
After Noheem's submission, the House commiserated with the bereaved family with Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda calling for the sealing of the hospital.
Another member of the committee, Hon. Lawal Aina, told his colleagues it was a pitiable sight when the committee visited Adebola at the hospital.
He added that upon interrogation, it was discovered that Dr. Baiyewu proved not to have been a certified surgeon.
Some of the lawmakers who spoke on the issue, suggested that a formal complaint be made against Dr. Baiyewu to the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria for action while others urged stricter monitoring of medical doctors and hospitals.

The visit comes as the CP activates plans to acquaint himself with the safety approach of the region, using the same medium to pursue counsel and prayers from the paramount ruler.
Hosted at the palace of the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, other kings present were; HRM, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, HRM, Oba Aremu Shotonwa, Sekumade Of Ipakodo, HRM, Oba Ajibade Mudashiru Agoro, Ranodu Of Imota, HRM, Oba Adeoriyomi Oyebo, Obateru Of Egbin, HRM, Oba Richard Olukayode, Eweye of Isiu, and HRM, Oba Moruf Ahmed Olalekan, Alagura of Agura.
Welcoming the Commissioner of Police, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, in his brief speech thanked CP Idowu Owohunwa for taking out time to visit the palace.
He explained that Ikorodu, which is the 3rd largest city in southwest Nigeria should always be prioritised in the area of security, encouraging the CP to discern in asking for assistance in ensuring its numerous command posts in Ikorodu work effectively.
Benjamin Hundeyin, Public Relations officer to the Lagos State police force introduced the ranking officers that accompanied the CP, before giving the floor to the commissioner of police.
According to the Commissioner of Police, the essence of the visit is to seek fatherly advice and words of blessing from the paramount ruler of the waterbed region.
He explains, "Honestly, I have been trying to make this visit, but our Kabiesi has been busy, now that am here, the visit is first to seek the prayers and blessings of our king".
"Also, this visit has become even more eminent due to the rising tension in the state over music star Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, an indigene of Ikorodu".
"I want to assure Kabiesi and the people of Ikorodu that we're working to ensure that the necessary quotas are questioned and justice is brought to this sad case".
"I am equally using this medium to urge the youths in Ikorodu and all others participating in the protest to see justice served in Mohbad's case, please be patient with us, the Lagos State Police will not leave any stone unturned in this matter" Idowu asserted
CP Idowu also took his attention to the thriving Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative (IDPIL) security outfit, an agency he praised, making known his intention for his officers to synergize with the unit.
"When I learned about the IDPIL, I was so delighted about the step put in place by the community to combat crimes, because the truth is, government alone cannot do it all".
"The best way to operate is for our officers to integrate these trained security operatives in their actions to fight crimes around the community".
"I don't know how far our command posts in this division have been able to work together with IDPIL, but I'll ensure to put it in full motion that they work together with this local security team" CP Idowu added Filled with satisfaction, HRM, Oba Kabiru Adewale, in his follow-up remark, thanked the CP for his visit, stating that he was very pleased the CP had it in mind to see him.
He urged the the commissioner of police to ensure that he puts into action, everything he has stated to yield results in record time.
Before praying for the CP, he advised him to see Ikorodu division as another home, asserting that it's a good thing that the CP married his wife from Ikorodu.
"The door of this palace is always open to you, you can come at any time for consultation, for our prayers and guidance, and it is my prayer that you'll be promoted to a higher level after serving as the Lagos CP" Oba Shotobi said.
Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, expressed his happiness in every area and points made by CP Idowa regarding his leadership trajectory.
He instructed the CP to ensure he lives up to expectations regarding his aforementioned leadership approach, asserting that once there is effective implementation of the concept, success is assured.
