Former Rotary Club District Governor, Rotarian Adewale Ogunbadejo in a brief communication with Ikorodu News Network (INN) explained how the club erected the Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali Multipurpose Hall in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA. In a brief interview dated the 19th of January 2023, the former DG illustrated that the need arose to set up the youth empowerment centre when the waterbed was battling the notorious Baddo crisis. "I was nominated in 2015, but my tenure elapsed from July 1st 2017 to June 30th 2018". "Before my inauguration, I was requested to present a vision plan for my administration, and immediately, I thought of achieving a centre for skill acquisition". "The killings by the Baddo group at that time were not just in Ikorodu alone, even in Gbagada where I reside as a medical doctor, we do wake up in the morning to find human corpses on the roadside due to the same crisis". "So, as the government and communities were thinking of ways to remedy the situation, I thought of ways our club could help the youths become productive individuals during my tenure". At that point (during his tenure), according to Rotarian Ogunbadejo, the club purposed to structure a skill acquisition centre (for mass education) that will strive to re-orientate the mindset of youngsters for a promising path. He proceeded, "My good friend, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, who was representing the Lagos East Senatorial District at the time arranged a meeting for me with the former secretary to the Lagos State Governor, and current GAC member, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun. It was Baba Basorun who saw our conception, and directed us to have a scheduled discussion with the King". With structural plans in place, the club met with HRM, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, who provided a free land space for the realisation of the project after listening to the club's vision for his community. "Subsequently, we also met with the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, Bldr Sesan Daini, to convey our well-received proposal, afterwards, we had to sign an MOU with the Council, Monarch and Community to officially kick off the project". "It was a well-rounded synergy from the four corners of the LCDA to bring the undertaking to reality". Rotarian Ogunbadejo explained. He further noted that a chunk of the funds used in building the multipurpose centre was raised during his inauguration ceremony. The legacy project was commissioned 'Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali Multipurpose Centre' on the 14th of May 2018". On the day of the commissioning, Ikorodu's own Mr Rotimi Ogunleye, who was the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development at that time, represented the Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, and also Mary Beth Growney Selene from the United States of America represented the Rotary International President. "We built the event centre on the same premises, which would assist those managing the facility to put forward funds for maintenance purposes". "Seeing what the centre is doing today, training youths from year to year, give me joy unspeakable". "Presently, I am trying to seek support from our District Governor, Rotarian Omotunde Lawson, who's also a retired director of the Lagos State Ministry of Education, to see how we could raise funds to upgrade the effete equipment and further enhance the activity done there" Rotarian Ogunbadejo concluded.

Mudashiru Obasa and other lawmakers-elect received their Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday promising to ensure a greater Lagos at the 10th Assembly. "On behalf of my colleagues, we will continue to build on the success of the current Assembly when we resume for the 10th Assembly. We want to assure Lagosians that we will continue to make laws and pass motions and resolutions that will bring progress to Lagos and protect the interests of residents. "That's the assurance that I have from the 39 other members-elect," Dr Obasa told journalists at the event which had Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat in attendance. A total of 38 lawmakers-elect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and two from the opposition received their Certificate of Return. The Speaker thanked his constituents in Agege and Lagosians for their support for the APC. "I thank my people in Agege for their consistency, loyalty and support at all times. And to Lagosians, we say thank you. At least APC has 38 lawmakers-elect out of the 40 for the House of Assembly. We have three senatorial seats and a whole lot in the House of Representatives. We are very happy about this and have reasons to thank Lagosians. "We are going to support the Governor in his assignments to bring growth and progress to Lagos State as well as protect the lives and property of our people. However, supporting the executive arm does not mean we are going to compromise or abandon our constitutionally guaranteed responsibilities," Obasa said. He expressed optimism that Lagos will benefit from the centre in the next administration because "we have a President-elect that we all have absolute confidence in and who had done very well in Lagos State with a good track record. "We are sure that with him, many of our national challenges would be resolved because he has the capacity and knowledge to deliver. I do not doubt in my mind about it."

IKODIV 2023: 2ND EDITION OF IKORODU TRADE FAIR INTEGRATES MORE BUSINESSES, CREATES PEOPLE-ORIENTED TRANSACTIONS ®™√ INN Nigeria © 393ok3kekemm2540913322324610780 The business stimulative nature of the 2nd edition of Ikorodu Trade Fair also known as IKODIV has spurred the Lagos State Governor, Mr Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu to reaffirm his aim at providing a conducive environment and enabling business growth in the State. A collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, and the Lagos State University of Science and Technology, LASUSTECH, the Ikorodu Division Expo is organised by the Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI). Held at the LASUSTECH campus, It is organised to energise small-scale enterprises, recognising their key potential to an inclusive and sustainable recovery for economic development. The official opening of the trade fair peaked on Monday, 27th of March 2023, with likes of royal personalities; HRM, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, HRM, Oba Abdul-Semiu Oyebo, Obateru of Egbin Kingdom, HRM, Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, HRM, Oba Mudashiru Ajibade-Agoro, Ranodu of Imota and HRM, Oba (Engr) Bashir Aremu Sotonwa, the Sekumade of Ipakodo were all in attendance. Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Dr. (Mrs.) Lola Akande at the opening ceremony, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Adetutu Ososanya, affirmed that the administration of Governor Sanwo-Olu is intentional about implementing programmes and projects meant to support businesses in the State. She explained that projects like the Lekki Deep Sea Port in Ibeju Lekki; Lagos Rice Mill in Imota, here in Ikorodu; 18.75km Eleko-Epe six-lane rigid pavement expressway; the first phase of the 13 kilometres Lagos Blue Light Rail and others are all meant to enhance the State economy business scale. "Without doubt, these projects are already impacting labour and many enterprises positively in different parts of the State". "Ultimately, MSMEs will form the greater percentage of beneficiaries as they work towards the sustainable recovery for economic development" Mrs Akande added. Over 100 product exhibitors enlisted for the trade extravaganza, showcasing their unique products and services. The President, of Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Chief Kayode Shoderu expressed his delight in the organisation of the Expo, which he described as part of the commitment to building sustainable MSMEs. According to Chief Shoderu, reiterating his earlier statement at the press conference before the launch, the Trade Fair (IKODIV) gives a platform to showcase products and services while exploring opportunities for growth and innovation. The Keynote Speaker and Lagos State Chairman, of the Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), Dr Adams Adebayo emphasised the need to support MSMEs as they are the backbone of every economy. Dr Adams eliminated that the challenges confronting the MSMEs varied and include access to low-interest loans, inadequate infrastructure, subsistence and manual production, mindset and lack of innovative ideas. He continued, "Relevant institutions must create access to low-interest funds for entrepreneurs to access while there is a need for MSMEs to scale up their production to meet local and export needs". "I also want to advise the Government to create a three-year pre-retirement entrepreneurship/investment window to transform public servants into entrepreneurs", he stated. In his brief address, the Vice-Chancellor, of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya averred that the Trade Fair is an opportunity to grow the economy of the Ikorodu Division. Prof. Odusanya explained that focusing on the MSME sector can transform even the nation's economy and lift people out of poverty.
