
In Relieving the Hunger and Poverty, on Thursday, 14th January, 2021, Ikorodu Diamond Lions Club through Community Needs Assessment donated Food items, Clothes and footwears to Lagos State Government Vocational Rehabilitation “Centre for person with disability” Owutu, Agric, Ikorodu. Lagos.
In the world today, over 1 billion people suffer from hunger. This means that 1 in 6 people lack the minimal amount of food required to live. Ikorodu Diamond Lion Club is acting to prevent death due to hunger.
About 3,000 people die daily of hunger and poverty in Nigeria which is Africa’s most populous country.
Reports quoted, with the survey conducted through their community accesment, out of the country’s estimated population of over 200 million, nearly 14 million people go hungry daily, with half of them being underfed.
That’s why the club took it upon herself to visit the needy at the Rehabilitation Centre in Ikorodu.
It is the mission of the Lions Club to put an end to the Global hunger, Gradually reducing starvation. For Where there is need, there is a Lion
