The resistance campaign programme launched by the third executive council of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Imota Local Council Development Area led by Comrade Folarin Adegboyega Awal that began earlier this week have taken another bold step as it paired with Imota Students Union today dated Thursday 28th January, 2021 to move operation “Catch Them Young and Say Not Cultism” campaign to other notable public primary schools in Imota LCDA.
The today’s campaign programme which started with a visitation to the school management and pupils’ of Local Government Primary School, Imota, Ansar-Ur-Deen Primary School, Imota, Methodist Primary School, Imota respectively witnessed the presence of members of the executive cabinet of the Youth Council and students union.
The executive members of this two organizations present at the event were given the opportunity to address all the pupils of the schools on the importance of peace in the community and the reason why they must always shun cultism and other anti-social behaviors. We further encouraged them to concentrate more on their studies because education serves as the bedrock of development.
The Coordinator of the Youth Council in Imota LCDA Local Branch, Comrade Folarin Adegboyega Awal in his speech charged all the pupils of each of the schools to always emulate good people that are living in the town so that they can as well become a notable person like them. He concluded by urging them to always shun cultism and other deviant behaviours that had recently ravaged our communities.
Also, the president of Imota Students Union, Comrade Ogunbowale Olatayo Bodunrin made it known to all the pupils to always shun cultism because it terminates future and it kills dream. He concluded by imploring them not to listen or give in to any form of manipulation coming from that angle anytime.
The union president made the student received an assurance from the students as he made them to pledge before him that none of them will never be part of any cult group. Each of the students reaffirm that “I will say no to cultism because it doesn’t bring peace to the society, so help me God”.
