
Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Babajimi Benson, on Wednesday commissioned newly facilitated classroom blocks in Imota LCDA and Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, further strengthening his commitment to educational development and grassroots transformation across the constituency.
The commissioning ceremonies, held on May 7, 2026, attracted community leaders, education stakeholders, political figures, traditional rulers, parents, and residents, all of whom gathered to witness the unveiling of the modern educational facilities aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions in public schools.
The first phase of the exercise took place at Methodist Primary School, where a newly constructed six-classroom block was officially commissioned.
Rep. Benson was represented at the event by the Executive Secretary of the Ikorodu Local Government Education Authority, Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, Sunday Benson, described Rep. Benson as a transformational leader whose interventions have continued to reshape the developmental landscape of Imota.
According to the chairman, the federal lawmaker has facilitated numerous projects spanning infrastructure, education, and human capital development, making residents of the LCDA direct beneficiaries of purposeful and impactful representation.
He noted that the lawmaker’s investments in education have significantly improved the learning environment in public schools while contributing positively to the academic growth of pupils within the council area.
Hon. Sunday Benson also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for driving the Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that the administration’s policies and interventions are already making meaningful impacts at the grassroots level.
Among dignitaries present at the event were Rev’d (Col.) Dr. Titilola Onafowakan (Rtd), the Head Teacher of Methodist Primary School, the Baale of the host community, Chief Kazeem Oyebanjo, representatives of the Parents-Teachers Forum, and leaders of various Community Development Associations.
In an emotional remark, Chief Kazeem Oyebanjo expressed appreciation to Rep. Benson for facilitating the educational project in the community and offered prayers for the lawmaker’s continued success and protection.
Also speaking, Col. Dr. Titilola Onafowakan (Rtd) delivered a tribute in honour of the federal lawmaker, applauding his commitment to community development and educational advancement across Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
The commissioning train later moved to Salvation Army Primary School in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, where another six-classroom block facilitated by Rep. Benson was officially unveiled before a large gathering of residents and stakeholders.

Rep. Benson was again represented by Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo, while the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Omo’ba Hameed Olalekan Aroyewun, who was unavoidably absent, was represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Qudus Oduntan.
Other dignitaries at the event included the Leader of the Council, Hon. Basirat Banjoko, the Council Manager, APC Chairman for Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Hon. Taiwo Ọrẹnuga, the Baale of Gẹgẹ Community, Chief Jamiu, the school’s Head Teacher, Mr. Bamidele Ẹsan, representatives of Community Development Associations, members of the Parents-Teachers Forum, and other community stakeholders.
Speaking on behalf of the council chairman, Alhaji Qudus Oduntan commended Rep. Benson for his consistent developmental interventions in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, particularly within the education sector.
He described the projects facilitated to the area as evidence of quality representation and urged residents to continue supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the administration of President Tinubu.
Responding to the commendations, Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo stated that Rep. Benson remains passionate about delivering sustainable and people-oriented projects across Ikorodu Division.

The Education Secretary highlighted several projects facilitated by the lawmaker through the Ikorodu Local Government Education Authority within the last ten months.
According to him, the projects include classroom blocks at Olu-Odo Community Primary School, Ibeshe; Ilado Community Primary School, Baiyeku; Isawo Comprehensive Junior Grammar School, Isawo; St. Saviour Anglican Primary School, Igbaga; Salvation Army Primary School, Agunfoye; and Methodist Primary School, Imota.
He further disclosed that prototype classroom projects are currently ongoing at Model Nursery and Primary School, Sagamu Road; Yewa Junior Grammar School, Aga; and Abule-Eko Community Junior Grammar School, Ijede.
It was also gathered that the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Omo’ba Hameed Olalekan Aroyewun, complemented the intervention by constructing eight units of modern convenience within the Salvation Army Primary School premises to improve sanitation and learning conditions.
The newly commissioned classroom blocks in both schools were equipped with staff rooms, electrical fittings, ceiling fans, modern furniture, and smart boards designed to meet contemporary educational standards and provide pupils and teachers with a conducive learning environment.
Stakeholders and residents at both locations praised Rep. Babajimi Benson for sustaining what they described as a legacy of impactful representation, particularly in the education sector, noting that the projects would have lasting benefits for future generations across Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
