
Chairmen of the 16 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos East Senatorial District, alongside All Progressives Congress (APC) local government chairmen, have unanimously endorsed the lawmaker representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced during a strategic meeting involving council chairmen and APC local government party chairmen across the district, reflecting growing support for the senator’s leadership and legislative performance.
Speaking on behalf of the council chairmen, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, who also serves as Chairman of Conference 57, commended Senator Abiru for what he described as impactful representation and sustained delivery of democratic dividends to constituents across Lagos East.
Olowa noted that the senator’s achievements at the National Assembly have continued to resonate across the district, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, economic intervention programmes, and other grassroots-oriented initiatives.
According to him, Senator Abiru has distinguished himself through responsive leadership, competence, and commitment to the welfare of the people.
“We are proud of the senator’s sterling performance and quality representation at the National Assembly. His dedication to the development of Lagos East is evident in the numerous projects and initiatives spread across the district. Considering his track record, we strongly believe he deserves another term in office,” Olowa stated.
In a separate session with the senator, APC local government chairmen from the 16 LGAs and LCDAs also passed a vote of confidence on Senator Abiru’s leadership and formally endorsed his re-election bid.
Speaking on behalf of the APC chairmen, Akin Mejolagbe reaffirmed the party structure’s support for the senator, describing his performance in office as impressive and worthy of continuity.
Reacting to the endorsement, Senator Abiru expressed appreciation to the council chairmen and APC leaders for the confidence reposed in him, describing the gesture as a strong motivation for greater service.
The senator described local government administrators and party leaders as critical stakeholders in grassroots governance and development, adding that the collaboration between his office and local councils has enhanced the execution of developmental projects and people-focused programmes across the district.
“We have continued to work together in advancing the interests of our people through impactful initiatives and developmental projects. This partnership remains vital as we intensify efforts towards improving the lives of residents across Lagos East,” Abiru said.
He reiterated his commitment to responsive representation, inclusive leadership, and sustained developmental interventions across the 98 wards in Lagos East Senatorial District.
The senator also urged party leaders and council officials to remain steadfast in their support for all APC candidates, including Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ahead of future electoral engagements.
