Dr Kayode Olaide has fulfilled his pledge to reward outstanding students of the Adeseye Ogunlewe STEM (AOSTEM) Centre during the inauguration of newly elected executives of the Mandate Youth Group in Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The event, which also featured a get-together party, was held at the residence of former Minister of Works and Housing, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, in Igbogbo and attracted political leaders, youth stakeholders, students, and community members.
Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour, Dr. Kayode Olaide reiterated his commitment to promoting education and youth development, emphasizing the importance of investing in young people as a means of building a brighter future for society.
He also paid glowing tribute to Senator Ogunlewe, describing him as a visionary leader and mentor whose contributions to education have transformed countless lives across the Ikorodu Division and beyond.
Dr. Olaide recalled how he personally benefited from Senator Ogunlewe’s educational scholarship scheme during his formative years, noting that the support came at a critical time in his academic journey and provided him with the opportunity to pursue his education without undue financial hardship.
According to him, the scholarship programme not only eased the burden on his family but also inspired him to strive for excellence and remain focused on his educational goals.
He expressed profound gratitude to the Senator for investing in the dreams and aspirations of young people, adding that many successful professionals and community leaders today are products of the educational opportunities created through Senator Ogunlewe’s foresight and generosity.
Dr. Olaide further stated that Senator Ogunlewe’s enduring legacy lies not only in the infrastructure and development projects he facilitated but also in the countless lives he has positively impacted through education, mentorship, and youth empowerment initiatives.
He had earlier promised to reward students of the AOSTEM Centre who excelled in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Under the initiative, candidates who scored between 260 and 319 were entitled to receive ₦10,000 each, while candidates who scored 320 and above would receive ₦20,000 as an incentive for academic excellence.
According to results released by the centre’s coordinator, one candidate scored an outstanding 322, while 13 other candidates achieved scores of 260 and above.
In fulfilment of his promise, Dr Kayode presented the cash rewards to the successful students during the event.
The gesture was widely applauded by attendees, who described it as a significant investment in the future of young people and a practical way of encouraging academic excellence within the community.
Former Minister of Works and Housing, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, who hosted the event, commended the students for their remarkable achievements and urged them to remain dedicated to their educational pursuits.
Abdulsalam Raonut, who scored 299 in the JAMB examination, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe for his generous support and commitment to promoting academic excellence among young Nigerians.
She also commended Dr. Kayode Olaide for fulfilling his promise, describing the gesture as a great source of encouragement.
According to her, the support has strengthened his determination to excel academically and pursue his educational aspirations with greater confidence.
Duada Adijat, who achieved an outstanding score of 322 in the JAMB examination, thanked Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe for his support for education and youth development.
She also praised Dr. Kayode Olaide for keeping his promise and demonstrating genuine commitment to encouraging hardworking students.
She noted that the recognition and support would motivate her to continue striving for excellence and achieving greater academic success in the future.
Also, in attendance was Hon. Nurudeen Saka Solaja, former member representing Ikorodu Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, alongside other notable guests and community leaders who gathered to celebrate the inauguration and support youth development initiatives in the area.
