Wasiu Adesina, his Vice-Chairman, Leader of the House, Councilors, SLG, Supervisors, Council-Manager and other Heads of Departments assembled at Admos event hall in Imota LCDA on the 11th of January 2023.
Poised to break even in its refined roles, the council boss, his legislative arm, management team and staff converged for its 2023 annual budget retreat program.
Organised to achieve an adequate knowledge of its Planning orientation, bottleneck analysis, cash allocation, increasing staff motivation, hypotheses review and funding plans, the retreat lasted for 3 days.
Addressing the cabin from the jump, Hon. Wasiu Adesina illustrated that the budget retreat is meant to fulfil part of the provision of the constitution, which is an avenue where community "inputs" are injected into the allotment as a people-oriented budget.
To improve on effective decision-making, the chairman let out that the budget retreat is an annual symposium to evaluate the direction of its fiscal economic expenses.
Restating that in 2022, the council produced a forecasted sum of One Billion, Nine Hundred And Forty Million, Sixty-Five Thousand, Eight Hundred and Forty-Nine Naira, Eighty Kobo (N1,940,065,849.80) as the approved budget.
Adesina further communicated that the year 2023 budget will bolster the bond between his council and the good people of Ikorodu LG, adding that the process will produce expansion and growth for its people and their communities.
He continued, "The year 2023 budget will be carefully packaged to accommodate all the inputs, plus several requests and opinions of our beloved stakeholders to modify our decision-making method".
"It is our applicable planning procedure that has increased the council's revenue from just 5 million naira when my administration started to a whopping 150 million naira".
"I can only seek absolute teamwork and perpetual prayers for this council in our quest to achieve more and move Ikorodu forward to a greater height".
Adesina concluded by assuring everyone that all requests and submissions put together regarding the budget will receive the adequate and prompt attention they deserve.
On the retreat proper, enlightening attendees on how to tap into the hidden treasures of Ikorodu Local Government Area, Dr Olu Badejo, stated that Finance and Budgeting are some of the most challenging aspects of Local Government administration.
Shedding light on the Theme; Fostering Local Economic Development, Dr Olu Badejo explained that for the council to live up to expectations, it must appropriate a budget that poses as a catalyst to stimulate growth, not ruining the strides and expectations of others.
According to him, wealth consists not in having great possessions but in having few wants; It’s not how much earnings the system makes, but how much of it is maintained, and how hard it reimburses works to put smiles on people's faces.
"For the system to reduce poverty, budget propagation should be more channelled into Educating the children, Providing clean water, Ensuring basic health care and Empowering the girls or women".
"The budget should also look into Prioritising Human Capital over Physical Capital, creating skill acquisition mediums, providing Formal education, Award Scholarships to indigent students, Empowerment programs etc".
Dr Badejo concluded by appreciating the chairman of Ikorodu Local Government for creating an insightful budget retreat that will open the intuition of his administrative arm.
Urging the council to cash in on its huge population density, qualified and well-trained manpower, thriving taxable economic activities, Constitutionally guaranteed taxation powers and E-billing payment mechanisms to realise an internal gross revenue system for the council. The appropriation retreat gave way for a special question and answer session which was channelled from council personnel in attendance to the guest speaker about his treated topic.
Vice-Chairman, Aarebirin (Dr) Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba in the closing comments acknowledged the chairman as a learned leader, citing his administration as unique in all of Lagos state.
On Elections, Folashade-Oba further implored everyone present to inform others to get their PVC to rationalise their voting rights during the forthcoming elections, a recommendation that was also communicated by the council boss prior.
Ikorodu LGA Chairman, Alhaji Waheed Animashaun, Party chieftains, Council Manager, Engr. Martins Odupitan, Dr Olusoga Badejo, Mr Alli Balogun, HRO Mr Abayomi Ajibola, Mr Kazeem Adesanya and NULGE Chairman, Mrs Adenike Mabodu were also in attendance.

9293i3jn3n4912027978433405928 The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina hosted his management and NULGE staff of Ikorodu Local Government for a prayer & thanksgiving round on the 6th of January 2023.
Held at the council secretariat hall, the event was organised to insert God into the activities of the council as it marks the outset of official activities for the Year 2023. Featuring worship, praise and prayers, the inter-religion event brought exhortations from Pst. Femi Gilbert of the Daylight Revival Church International, Ikorodu and Alpha Shakirudeen Akanni (Iradat Muslim society) for the Islamic and Christian attendees in the council.
In summary, the exhortation edified everyone on the notion 'those who place God first, through prayers, are usually the most successful ones in the end'. Post-sermon, both clerics heaped applause on Hon. Wasiu Adesina over his overseeing strategy in the council.
In his remarks, Adesina advised the over 200 NULGE excos in attendance to be useful in fulfilling their numerous official duties, declaring quarterly cash rewards for the best revenue staff, and welfare packages for the best staff of the year.
According to the chairman, 2023 will be positively huge for the council as long as each local government worker modifies in administering their obligations.
He continued, "When I came in, my administration grew Ikorodu Local Government revenue from 5 million to 150 million". "The Local government will continue to improve the revenue of the council without exploiting the good people of Ikorodu".
Adesina noted that every quarter, the council will set up a committee to survey the operation of revenue to admire the feats of income staff.
He, however, pleaded for staff with conflicts to meet with him after the gathering to resolve every dispute, to start the year on a positive footing. On election, he explained that the council will set out a period to access the PVC of all staff, imploring them to get ready to vote for all APC candidates; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Presidential Flag-bearer, Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ikorodu Federal lawmaker, Hon. Babaji Benson, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, and Hon. Gbholahan Ogunleye, APC flag bearer for Ikorodu constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Subsequently, Mrs Adenike Mabodu, Chairman NULGE Ikorodu LG, hailed Adesina for his manner of control, pledging that the council boss will watch a quick gain in effective service from her members.
She added that her members will also play an active role in voting come elections 2023.

Mudashiru Obasa, on Thursday received the 2023 budget proposal of N1,692,671tn from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu stressing that the Bill should address three areas for the benefit of the residents of the State.
The budget is with a capital to recurrent ratio of 55:45 percent.
Dr. Obasa, who noted some of the challenges currently facing Nigeria and its citizens, told Governor Sanwo-Olu: "The Year 2023 budget of Lagos should have more human face, be targeted at reducing poverty and improving the welfare of the residents of the State as part of the THEMES agenda that guides this administration."
The Speaker said that though the Lagos Government had achieved a lot in its effort to improve the development of the State, it should constantly be conscious that the residents yearn for more dividends of democracy.
Obasa stressed the need for the Federal Government to approve the allocation of one percent special status for Lagos considering its population and the constant influx of people to the State.
Noting that this was the last budget to be presented by the current administration before the 2023 election, Obasa promised that the House would carry out its constitutional duty of scrutinising the proposal for the benefit of the residents of State.
"There is, therefore, no doubt that in the remaining months leading to the end of this administration, so much more needs to be done; so much is still needed from us as the good people of Lagos yearn for more dividends of democracy, especially at this critical time," he said while promising that the House would continue to support the Executive arm of Government to achieve a better, safer society.
The Speaker also urged Nigerians to vote for the candidates of the All Progressives Congress both at the State and the national levels as he described the Presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as one who has the capacity to make Nigeria great again.

REMARKS BY RT HON. (DR) MUDASHIRU AJAYI OBASA, SPEAKER, LAGOS STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY, AT THE PRESENTATION OF THE Y2023 BUDGET, THEMED: BUDGET OF CONTINUITY, BY MR BABAJIDE OLUSOLA SANWO-OLU, GOVERNOR, LAGOS STATE, AT THE ASSEMBLY'S HALLOWED CHAMBER ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2022.
Ladies and gentlemen,
It is with great joy that I heartily welcome you, on behalf of my colleagues and dedicated staff, to the hallowed chamber of the Lagos State House of Assembly, a legislative arm of government that prides itself as ‘above the common standard of excellence’.
Today’s formal presentation of the Year 2023 budget by Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the very hardworking Governor of Lagos State, signposts another positive chapter in the beautiful history of our State, her progress and development. For this and every other privilege we have had, it will only be wise to give all praise and adoration to the Almighty Allah, the giver and taker of life, the One who reverses the irreversible.
Around this time last year, Mr. Governor was here to present the Year 2022 budget themed: BUDGET OF CONSOLIDATION with detailed plans for the current year which is about to end. As we gather here, we have all witnessed the outstanding performance of the budget as regards infrastructural renewal and wealth creation. We can testify that Lagos is truly working.
Today, we have come together again to fulfill the requirement stipulated in Section 121 (1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) which intendment is to deepen democracy, strengthen democratic institutions and create a society that is not only habitable, but which provides a pride of place for its residents.
Dear Lagosians, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, our Governor, has given us details of how the Government of Lagos intends to utilize the State’s wealth to further boost the development of the State. It is noteworthy that the Year 2023 ‘BUDGET OF CONTINUITY with a size of N1,692.671bn is the last to be presented by this administration as we move towards electioneering and the ushering into existence of a new dispensation next year by the special grace of God.
There is, therefore, no doubt that in the remaining months leading to the end of this administration, so much more needs to be done; so much is still needed from us as the good people of Lagos yearn for more dividends of democracy, especially at this critical time.
Mr. Governor, permit me to applaud your astuteness, courage, forthrightness and determined spirit for service. The result of true governance geared towards the smart city dream for Lagos reflects in many parts of State. Impressively, Lagos State has continued to thrive with the Government focusing on needed infrastructure including schools, bridges and hospitals. The Imota Rice Mill as well as the Lagos Film City projects are sure to stand our State out in the near future.
At our own end, we have passed a number of bills and resolutions that have greatly promoted economic and social development of the state. Our legislative activities have continued to standardise governance and legal procedures, protect peoples' rights and encourage enterprise and investments in the state, since the last budget presentation by the Governor.
Ladies and gentlemen, Lagos, being the Centre of Excellence, is home to millions of Nigerian citizens. Each day, the State experiences an influx of people who come with the hope of having the opportunity to eke out a living. The State has sustained this attraction because it continues to enjoy good leadership. Lagos accounts for about 20% of the national Gross Domestic Product and about 10% of the nation’s population.
This is not, however, to gloss over the impact of such massive movement of people to Lagos State. The result is evident in the State’s infrastructures that are consistently overstretched, thus requiring constant attention. This is the reason why we continue to agitate for allocation of one percent special status for Lagos State.
Distinguished guests, exercises of this nature have raised our consciousness about economic situations and reactions to events and activities both nationally and globally. All the economic indices at home and abroad indicate that all is not well. These unfavourable variables are due to both human actions and natural occurrences.
The world still battles the aftermath of COVID-19 which ravaged the globe without the exception of Nigeria, particularly Lagos, our State. Its effect are still very glaring.
Furthermore, the life threatening effects of climate change have become apparent in the rate of flooding experienced across parts of the world leading to the destruction of farmlands and agricultural produce thus causing food shortages and hunger. Nigeria is also currently having its unpalatable share.
The effect of the unnecessary war between Russia and Ukraine that has resulted in astronomical surge in the price of energy across Europe and affecting standard of living and employment has also crept into the Nigerian economy. Over here, the impact is seen in the reduced direct remittances from diaspora and in direct foreign investments.
Beyond these global challenges, telltale signs of local issues including insecurity in many parts of the country and unemployment are noticeable in Nigeria’s rising inflation rate which has, in turn, caused skyrocketing prices of food and other commodities. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) report released recently by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) shows that inflation rose by 20.8% in September, this year. While this most recent figure is up from 20.52% recorded in August, the result is that it further digs into the pockets of the citizens. This affects their purchasing power.
While it is the constitutional responsibility of this House of Assembly to do the needful by meticulously working on the budget as presented by Mr. Governor, I want to assure Lagosians that members of this Honourable House will give a thought to the challenges so far highlighted as well as other considerations in the process of shapening the proposal to meet the aspirations of the people.
The Year 2023 budget of Lagos should have more human face, be targeted at reducing poverty and improving the welfare of the residents of the State as part of the THEMES agenda that guides this administration.
We will also, as usual, continue to give the needed support to you, our dear Governor, as we all match ahead to solidify the achievements gained since 2019 when you took the reins of government.
As I begin to round off my remarks, I want to urge you, dear Lagosians, to keep in mind the need to elect only candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the House of Assembly, Governorship, House of Representatives, Senatorial and Presidential elections. No doubt, Lagos is a ‘Star State’ because it has enjoyed consistency in governance beginning from the administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our National Leader and by the grace of Almighty Allah, President of the country by 2023.
I also want to appeal to members of our great party in Lagos, Nigeria and in the diaspora to keep the tempo high by engaging Nigerians with Asiwaju Tinubu’s plan for a better country. Nigeria will be great again. And our collective hope should be on the APC presidential candidate, who understands what Nigeria needs at this time.
To all our party leaders, particularly the GAC members, we must continue in our determination and focus to keep Lagos strong and healthy enough for us. I am confident that we will continue to win in every situation and in the coming election.
We all know that our National Leader is an easy sell as his footprints of achievements remain indelible in Lagos. Today, our State enjoys an Internally Generated Revenue of N51 billion from the paltry N600 million it earned in 1999. This was the result of the various economic policies initiated by Asiwaju Tinubu while he was Governor. That aside, his education and health policies were the best of the period and are still being referenced till date.
Once again, I thank you all for coming and wish us a fruitful Year 2023.

fb img 16546961704755890556509670721316 Former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC for the 2023 presidential election.
Tinubu defeated 13 other contenders to emerge as the flag bearer of the party at the Special National Convention of the party in Abuja on Wednesday.
He won with a total vote of 1,271.
Tinubu, who had before balloting gotten the endorsement of six aspirants, who stepped down for him, is trailed by former Transportation Minister, Mr Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi; and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Rotimi Amaechi — 316, Yemi Osinbajo — 235, Dave Umahi — 38, Yahaya Bello — 47, Ogbonnaya Onu — 1, Ahmed Sani — 4, Tunde Bakare — 0, Rochas Okorocha — 0, Ahmad Lawan — 152 and Ben Ayade — 37.
Aspirants who stepped down for Tinubu were Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State; Senator Godswill Akpabio; Professor Ajayi Borroffice; Mr Dimeji Bankole; Senator Ibikunle Amosun; and Mrs Uju Ohanenye.
The total rundown of states and their respective accredited delegates are as follows:
Abia – 50; Adamawa- 62; Anambra- 63; Bayelsa- 24; Bauchi- 55; Benue- 64; Borno- 81; Cross River- 54; Delta- 73; Enugu- 51; Ekiti- 48; Edo- 54; Ebonyi- 38; FCT- 80.

94o3k3kkekem4170277452452899701 The Speaker of the Lagos Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa and other lawmakers-elect received their Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday promising to ensure a greater Lagos at the 10th Assembly.
"On behalf of my colleagues, we will continue to build on the success of the current Assembly when we resume for the 10th Assembly. We want to assure Lagosians that we will continue to make laws and pass motions and resolutions that will bring progress to Lagos and protect the interests of residents.
"That's the assurance that I have from the 39 other members-elect," Dr Obasa told journalists at the event which had Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat in attendance.
A total of 38 lawmakers-elect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and two from the opposition received their Certificate of Return.
The Speaker thanked his constituents in Agege and Lagosians for their support for the APC.
"I thank my people in Agege for their consistency, loyalty and support at all times. And to Lagosians, we say thank you. At least APC has 38 lawmakers-elect out of the 40 for the House of Assembly. We have three senatorial seats and a whole lot in the House of Representatives. We are very happy about this and have reasons to thank Lagosians.
"We are going to support the Governor in his assignments to bring growth and progress to Lagos State as well as protect the lives and property of our people. However, supporting the executive arm does not mean we are going to compromise or abandon our constitutionally guaranteed responsibilities," Obasa said.
He expressed optimism that Lagos will benefit from the centre in the next administration because "we have a President-elect that we all have absolute confidence in and who had done very well in Lagos State with a good track record.
"We are sure that with him, many of our national challenges would be resolved because he has the capacity and knowledge to deliver. I do not doubt in my mind about it."

Dr Obasa said this in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Eromosele Ebhomele, congratulating Tinubu who clocked 71 on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.
The Speaker said Tinubu, a puzzle too hard to crack', equates with great men around the world whose stories show great passion and undying love for their countries and citizens.
According to him, the recent presidential election won by Asiwaju Tinubu is icing on the cake for the President-elect, who has never shied away from being of service to God and humanity.
The Speaker recalled the sacrifice Tinubu made to take Nigeria back from the military and entrench democracy in the country, noting how difficult it is to find individuals with such a level of patriotism.
"For a man, whose thought at all times is about salvaging the country from economic and social bondage, victory at the recent polls came at the right time.

IKODIV 2023: 2ND EDITION OF IKORODU TRADE FAIR INTEGRATES MORE BUSINESSES, CREATES PEOPLE-ORIENTED TRANSACTIONS ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

393ok3kekemm2540913322324610780 The business stimulative nature of the 2nd edition of Ikorodu Trade Fair also known as IKODIV has spurred the Lagos State Governor, Mr Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu to reaffirm his aim at providing a conducive environment and enabling business growth in the State.
A collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, and the Lagos State University of Science and Technology, LASUSTECH, the Ikorodu Division Expo is organised by the Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).
Held at the LASUSTECH campus, It is organised to energise small-scale enterprises, recognising their key potential to an inclusive and sustainable recovery for economic development.
The official opening of the trade fair peaked on Monday, 27th of March 2023, with likes of royal personalities; HRM, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, HRM, Oba Abdul-Semiu Oyebo, Obateru of Egbin Kingdom, HRM, Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, HRM, Oba Mudashiru Ajibade-Agoro, Ranodu of Imota and HRM, Oba (Engr) Bashir Aremu Sotonwa, the Sekumade of Ipakodo were all in attendance.
Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Dr. (Mrs.) Lola Akande at the opening ceremony, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Adetutu Ososanya, affirmed that the administration of Governor Sanwo-Olu is intentional about implementing programmes and projects meant to support businesses in the State.
She explained that projects like the Lekki Deep Sea Port in Ibeju Lekki; Lagos Rice Mill in Imota, here in Ikorodu; 18.75km Eleko-Epe six-lane rigid pavement expressway; the first phase of the 13 kilometres Lagos Blue Light Rail and others are all meant to enhance the State economy business scale. "Without doubt, these projects are already impacting labour and many enterprises positively in different parts of the State". "Ultimately, MSMEs will form the greater percentage of beneficiaries as they work towards the sustainable recovery for economic development" Mrs Akande added.
Over 100 product exhibitors enlisted for the trade extravaganza, showcasing their unique products and services.
The President, of Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Chief Kayode Shoderu expressed his delight in the organisation of the Expo, which he described as part of the commitment to building sustainable MSMEs.
According to Chief Shoderu, reiterating his earlier statement at the press conference before the launch, the Trade Fair (IKODIV) gives a platform to showcase products and services while exploring opportunities for growth and innovation.
The Keynote Speaker and Lagos State Chairman, of the Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), Dr Adams Adebayo emphasised the need to support MSMEs as they are the backbone of every economy.
Dr Adams eliminated that the challenges confronting the MSMEs varied and include access to low-interest loans, inadequate infrastructure, subsistence and manual production, mindset and lack of innovative ideas. He continued, "Relevant institutions must create access to low-interest funds for entrepreneurs to access while there is a need for MSMEs to scale up their production to meet local and export needs".
"I also want to advise the Government to create a three-year pre-retirement entrepreneurship/investment window to transform public servants into entrepreneurs", he stated.
In his brief address, the Vice-Chancellor, of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya averred that the Trade Fair is an opportunity to grow the economy of the Ikorodu Division.
Prof. Odusanya explained that focusing on the MSME sector can transform even the nation's economy and lift people out of poverty. "It is a time to market, sell and exchange goods and services", he said.
