fb img 16770729691956170324071687196960 General Overseer of the True Covenant Church Of God, Bishop Festus Otusanya Olufemi also known as Omomajemu has once again called on Nigerian leaders to pay attention to the voice of the people amidst the naira scarcity crisis.
Omomajemu, in his short message on Wednesday the 22nd of February 2023, emphasised that if truly administrators want to succeed and develop the Nation, then adhering to the cry of the people must be their number one priority.
Educating the minds of residents in his sermon, Bishop Otusanya explained that it will be a huge mistake for any leader to ignore the cries of the populace at the helm of affairs.
Citing the Bible scriptures, Exodus 2:25, Omomajemu explains, "God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect for them".
"If God himself, who created the heavens and the earth, and gave rise to man too could have respect for men, why would a leader rule without demonstrating the utmost respect for his fellow beings?"
"You did not get to the position you're in today by yourself, God put you there because everything has been authorised by God". "He did it not because you're the best, wisest, knowledgeable or powerful, No!, God design everything the way he wants it," Omomajemu said. Bishop Festus illustrated that God appoints leaders and put them in charge for them to manage the resources he has provided for his children, asserting that the essence of leadership is to give the system a structure.
Furthermore, he advised leaders to be careful, because God did not put them in roles for their own sake or pockets.
"If leaders refuse to listen to the cries of Nigerians? God will surely listen to them, and you know what it means when God listens to the cry of his people and intervenes" Omomajemu cautions.

fb img 16767256897233979525088727199008 In the wake of reported disturbances in some parts of Lagos State yesterday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has sent a passionate appeal to residents to remain calm and avoid any form of violence that may throw the State into turmoil.
In an address to the State on Saturday, the Governor empathised with Lagosians over the hardship being experienced with the Federal Government’s currency swap policy being implemented by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
While he acknowledged the residents’ frustration and the difficulties associated with the effort to exchange old Naira notes for newly redesigned cash and its attendant effect on livelihood, the Governor said destructive demonstrations would never be the answer.
Sanwo-Olu told the residents to remain law-abiding and urged them to resist unscrupulous opportunists seeking to take advantage of the widespread frustration to hijack the situation and create a crisis. The Governor, while applauding the security agencies for stemming the violence in some parts of the state yesterday, gave a clear instruction to them to take full control and ensure zero tolerance to all acts of arson, violence and vandalism across the State, stressing that there would be no justification for anyone to attack public and private properties.
He said: “This address is necessary given the ongoing situation in the country, regarding the change of currency notes and the attendant hardships being faced by ordinary Lagosians. I acknowledge your patience and unwavering perseverance in these challenging times. As your Governor, my heartfelt call to you is to remain calm at this time and avoid all forms of violence, arson and rioting. In the face of difficulties and frustrations, violence and destruction should not and will never be the answer.
“We must resist the moves by opportunists who seek to take advantage of the anger and frustration to hijack the situation and foment trouble. Some unscrupulous persons want to sow seeds of violence and discord through their utterances and actions, all with the view of robbing you of the chance to cast your votes in the February 25 presidential and national assembly elections. Do not allow them to use you to achieve their evil intentions.
“There is no justification for attacking public or private property. The law enforcement agents have received clear instructions to take full control and ensure zero tolerance for any acts of arson, violence and destruction. I enjoin all law-abiding Lagosians to carry out their lawful activities without fear.”
Sanwo-Olu said the State Government was fully aware of the challenges the residents were faced with in accessing cash and getting other essential commodities. He said the Government was working hard to scale up palliative measures to lessen the burden on the masses.
The Governor said the 50 per cent reduction of transport fares across the State-owned transportation system - BRT, LAGRIDE, FMLM and ferries - would continue, as part of the palliative approach adopted by the State Government to reduce hardship on Lagosians. Sanwo-Olu disclosed that the State Government had opened consultation with private transport operators and their unions not to exploit the situation to hike their fares and create more hardship. He said: “We have also since commenced the distribution of food packs to the most vulnerable citizens, and the people most impacted by this disruption in the supply of cash. We will continue to highlight more vulnerable groups within our distribution channels who would benefit from the palliatives.
“As we scale up the rollout of these palliatives, we ask for your continued patience and understanding. Remain calm and go about your lawful activities and duties. The Lagos State Government under my watch will continue to stand by, with and for the ordinary people of Lagos.”
The Governor frowned at what he described as “rampant incidents of extortion” by players in the financial services value chain, especially Point of Sale (POS) operators, as well as petrol station attendants, who are cashing in on the situation.
He appealed to those involved in extortionate services to desist from such sharp practices, urging them to be their brother’s keepers and support the efforts to lessen the hardships being faced by the masses.
“This is not the period to sacrifice our empathy, compassion and humanity on the altar of profit-making,” Sanwo-Olu said.

As maintained by the youngest Bishop, the federal government is financially torturing Nigerians at a time the people are struggling to meet their daily meals.
In his message to Ikorodu News Network (INN) on the 17th of February 2023, Omomajemu explained that the Central Bank Of Nigeria (at the detriment of the people) is dancing around with the FG on its policies, while Nigerians are battling to adjust in accessing the newly designed naira notes.
He said, "I am an accountant by profession, and if CBN wants a country of over 200 million people to be stabilised, it means over 70 trillion naira have to be circulated for even distribution by banks to calm the chaos".
"In some places, to withdraw N10,000 via POS, people are being charged N1000 naira, N1500 to collect their own money. This challenge is only adding distress to the frustration of the masses".
"CBN cannot say they're not aware of the cries of Nigerians, yet, they're tossing around policies that will further weaken the strength and drive of the good and innocent people in this nation".
"Preventing Nigerians from using the old notes while the new notes are scarce is only making twice as much the level of poverty, lack and starvation in the country".
"We have gone through a lot in this nation already, yet, people are dying over this emergency, businesses are perishing and families are disintegrating due to this crisis.
"It's the frustration that's resulting in protest and unwarranted feuds across different regions presently," Omomajemu said.
The youngest Bishop further advised leaders at the helm of affairs to ensure putting the interest of Nigerians above their convenience, adding that everyone will die and leave their power behind someday. "What's happening today is nothing to joke about because our children, youths and adults are all crying, but the strategies of the system seem to be laughing at us".
"But the truth is, there will always be light at the end of the tunnel for God's people, and Nigerians will smile at the horizon of this economic disaster" Omomajemu asserted

A press release signed on Friday the 17th of February 2023 by Osita Nwanisobi, Director, Corporate Communications Department of the CBN, stated that the public should disregard the prior false information. The statement reads, "The attention of the Central Bank of Nigeria has been drawn to some fake and unauthorised messages quoting the CBN as having authorised the Deposit Money Banks to collect the old N500 and N1,000 Banknotes". "For the avoidance of doubt, And in line with Mr President's broadcast of February 16, 2023, the CBN has been directed to only reissue and recirculate the old N200 banknotes and this is expected to circulate as legal tender for 60 days up to April 10, 2023". "Members of the public should therefore disregard any message and/or information not formally released by the Central Bank of Nigeria on this subject".
"Media practitioners are advised to PLEASE verify any information from the correct sources before publication" the statement concluded.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu believes there is no need for violence as the Supreme Court is looking into this controversial matter and will make its position known on February 22. Lagos State has since joined the legal dispute- all in the interest of our people - in the belief that the highest court in the land has the capacity to adjudicate on the matter. The fuel situation is easing following some steps taken by the government. The government praises Lagosians for showing understanding, despite the pains that the Federal Government’s measures have brought. 44ok4m4mm3m302597401774760105 Dwellers of Selewu community in Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA were crammed with gratitude and commendation towards Princess Abiodun Islamiyat Oyefusi, as she kick-starts her free health scheme tagged 'Community Medics' across Lagos State.
The daughter of the former Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom launched her highly publicised medical program on the 3rd of June 2023.
Despite the downpour which occur in the early hours of the day, Princess Abiodun Oyefusi took her team of medical experts and volunteer workers to the community and sets up canopies and chairs to cater to residents, who enlisted to profit from the health-oriented scheme.
From diabetes, Blood Pressure tests, to malaria and other medical treatments, the program gave residents sufficient aid, culminating with medical physicians on the ground to advise patients with complicated health issues.
A dispensary point was also created to administer free drugs to beneficiaries, as residents applauded the laudable health scheme.
Speaking to members of the Press who were present, Princess Abiodun Oyefusi described the program as a means for her to support communities in Lagos State.
She explained that health is vital to the well-being of every individual, which made it paramount for her to tilt towards creating the community medics initiative.
"This program will randomly touch selected communities around Lagos State, I only choose to start in Ikorodu because it's my base, and as you know, charity begins from home".
"Most times, people are afraid to go to the hospital for a minor check-up which would give a remedy to their health challenges, they refuse because they believe it's expensive". "That is why am propelling this course as a form of a mobile clinic to reach neighbourhoods and cater to their numerous illnesses before it gets complicated," Princess Oyefusi said
Tirimisyu Uthman, a youth corper, who resides in Selewu town lauded the organisers of the program.
He cheered the orderliness and effective coordination of the health scheme, which he participated in along with his father.
Communicating further, he said, "The process is fast and organisers are doing a very favourable job".
"I've seen medical programs like this, and before you realize it, medical practitioners will start requesting money for some particular services, but here, I can say there is nothing of such, it is free from start to finish".
"If this health program is run by a private individual then I must commend their efforts towards achieving this course" Uthman asserted
Another resident, Mrs Ebi Johnson conveyed joy and thanked the organisers for bringing the health program to their community.
Mrs Johnson, who explained the significance of the program to herself, said the program has assisted her in reducing the cost of going to the pharmacy to undergo tests and acquire drugs.
She and her 10yr old daughter gained from the program.
"With a program like this, we'll easily detect sickness in our body that we're not mindful of, and also prevent lingering illness from our body" She added.
In all, over 300 residents benefited from the program.

ZEBRA CROSSING: IKORODU PECULIAR LIONS CLUB CREATES SAFE CROSSING PATH FOR SHAMS-EL-DEEN SCHOOL STUDENTS IN IKORODU ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

eooekemmdmm3976505122441808413 Principal of Shams-EL-Deen Junior Grammar School, Ikorodu, Mrs Kadijat Bolatito Adedeji, conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to members of Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club, on the implementation of a Zebra crossing project for the school.
The undertaking was completed by the club on the 2nd of June 2023, aimed at safeguarding students using the road subway during the school's morning and afternoon duration.
Mrs Adedeji, impressed with the freewill task of the club, said the supportive job won a special place in her heart because it prioritises the safety of her pupils.
According to the Principal, a safety program she had earlier attended, gave her the growing concern to assemble a similar project for the school (due to how motorists operate the road).
She tells further, "I never knew how to make it happen, so it was a stuff of amazement watching the club coming out of the blue to get it done for our children".
"With zebra crossing like this, it will make drivers careful in moving through this axis and keep our students safe as well".
"I cannot thank members of Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club enough for what they've done to aid the school, but I know that my God will bless them tremendously" She asserted.
Illustrating the essence of the project to the students and school officials (who came out collectively to inspect the work), Lion David Akinosho, Charter President of Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club, said Zebra crossing is a prudent footpath that serves as a caution to motorists.
He continued, "The importance of this track is to assist students in traversing the road, and prevent drivers from steering recklessly".
"Any driver who understands what driving is all about is meant to slow down immediately they set their sight on this Zebra crossing track".
"It is a crime (and punishable offence) for motorists not to stop or decelerate, particularly when someone is utilising this route to cross the road," He said.
Lion Akinosho further urged the students not to abuse the use of the pathway since they've comprehended its usage, adding that their manner of maintaining the walkway will make other road users do the same.
He subsequently instructed the students to take the information given to them about the Zebra crossing to the rest of their classmates and even to their parents at home.
The project was supervised by Lion Kayode Aluko, Project Coordinator, Ikorodu Peculiar Lions Club.
