COMMUNIQUE OF THE MEETING OF IKORODU DIVISION PEOPLE’S FORUM ON AUGUST 3, 2023 ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

screenshot 20230807 0627447E21942914701025856795 Ikorodu Division suffered a historical underrepresentation in the appointment of Commissioners in the State as reflected in the List submitted by the Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu, to the Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday, July 27. 2023, whence only one Commissioner was shortlisted for the Division out of a list of 39, to wit: Ms Bisola Olusanya. The General Meeting of the Forum held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, discussed the matter and resolved it as follows: The appointment of one Commissioner for Ikorodu Division by the Governor is inequitable and unacceptable. Ikorodu Division is one of the 5 administrative Divisions of the State and has 6 of the Local Council Development Areas out of 57 and out of 16 in the Senatorial District. Hence, cannot be entitled to only one by any means even based on 20 Local Government Councils.
The Forum hereby calls on the Governor of Lagos State to review the List and do the needful by granting the Division a minimum of 4 slots which is the least due by the formula of LCDAS or Senatorial District or the 5 Administrative Divisions represented in the Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Epe (I. B. I. L.E) acronym. The promise of juicy' appointments made to our political leaders cannot represent or take the place of Commissionership appointments and the Division should be given its proper share of Advisers especially those of cabinet status. We call on the Governor to give the Division its fair share in other appointments including but not limited to Senior Special Assistants, Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Parastatal. It is the feeling of the Forum that the Governor and powers-that-be in Lagos and the AIl Progressives Congress have taken the loyalty of the Division for granted and with levity and do not value it to the extent that the efforts for past and present electoral victories do not Count In the snaring of the dividends of democracy. Hence if our pleas are not considered, attachment to the political party is unrealistic and unproductive, therefore, the alternatives must be considered.
The Forum considers the state of infrastructure in the Division especially roads and the general marginalization of the Division in the scheme of things, coupled with this rather sinful omission, as an act of oppression. It is a deliberate attempt to irritate the law-abiding citizens of our Division as the acts are unjustifiable. The Forum wishes to draw the attention of the Governor to the provisions of S.14(1) which provides that: 'the Federal Republic of Nigeria shall be a state based on the principles of democracy and social justice'. And S.14(2)(c) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria provides that: 'the participation by the people in their government shall be ensured by the provisions of this constitution and definitely, the thrust requires equitable participation. The Forum enjoins the members and people to consider a son with other Divisions of the State for the ultimate emancipation of the indigenes from the shackles of oppression and intimidation by our kinsmen of southwest Nigeria. The Forum urges leaders and members to make adequate preparation to actualize the 'Ikorodu for Governor' project in the next election.

49o4k4k4m7E28787696580551121336 Concerned Youths of Ikorodu, who are unhappy with the recent cabinet list sent to the Lagos State House of Assembly by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, organised a protest along the Ogolonto axis of the waterbed region. The protest, which is occurring in Ikorodu today, came to light due to the Governor's Commissioner list, where Ikorodu was only given one representative.
According to the expression of some of the youths, who also happen to be card-carrying members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) party, they believe that Ikorodu was not given enough representation in the list and that the Governor should have done more to ensure that their voices were heard.
Thus, they're staging a protest along Ogolonto Road in response.
Among placards displayed in the protests, indicates that Ikorodu gave Laos approximately 65,000 votes in the last general elections, and youths feel the region is been marginalised.
In a video interview by Ikorodu News Network (INN) on Sunday, July 30th, the Concerned Youths of Ikorodu expressed their displeasure with the cabinet list. In a nutshell, they're calling for more representation for Ikorodu in the Lagos State government cabinet, and are demanding that the Governor take action to address their interests.
Their collective concern is that the Governor should've included more names to represent the 3rd largest city in the southwest region of Nigeria.

SANWO-OLU: PAY RISE COMING FOR LAGOS’ WORKERS, GOVT TO INCREASE STAFF BUS FLEET, HAND OVER 100 OFFICIAL VEHICLES TO DIRECTORS ®™√ INN Nigeria ©

388383u3h3j4916814955446473395 Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has surprised public servants with his announcement that a pay rise is coming. The move, the Governor said, is to cushion the effects of inflation, high prices of commodities and rising cost of living being experienced across the globe.
Sanwo-Olu personally broke the news to the civil servants, who gathered on Tuesday to receive when he paid a surprise visit to the Secretariat in Alausa - the seat of the Government. His cabinet members joined the reception, which was led by Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola. The Governor announced also, a 25 per cent salary increment for employees in the core establishment agencies.
Sanwo-Olu directed the Head of Service, Ministry of Establishment, Training and Pensions and the State Treasury Office (STO) to work out the modalities for upward review and statutory approvals, after which the implementation of the new pay would kick off.
The announcement elicited spontaneous jubilation from workers, as the news went round the Government Secretariat. The enthusiastic staff said the new salaries would boost productivity and scale up service delivery to residents.
Sanwo-Olu said the workers deserved encouraging welfare and benefits, given their unprecedented support and commitment to the core mandates of the State Government. The Governor added that the gesture would further motivate the State’s workforce and enhance its services to the people.
He said: “I have looked around, I know there is pressure and high level of inflation in the country. There is high cost of living everywhere. Last month at the cabinet meeting, I instructed the Office of Head of Service and Ministry of Establishment, Training and Pensions to start work on how we will increase the salaries of the entire workforce.
“I just don’t want to talk about it because we are Lagos; we reflect this decision in the lives of our people. I know the pressure of inflation is on you; we will not wait for the Federal Government before we take this decision. This is Lagos. We are going to review the salaries and ensure we take care of our public servants.
“When we do the pay rise, not only will we expect more from you, our citizens must also see the benefits of this important decision in the service delivery. We are a Government that is proactive, we don’t want the staff unions to hold us to ransom. We are responding to the yearnings of our people; I know you have not asked for it, but I am happy to tell you that a pay increase is on the way.”
Sanwo-Olu also announced the plan to raise the fleet of staff buses deployed to carry workers from their homes to work and back. At the inception of his administration, the Governor raised the fleet from 10 buses to 35.
The additional buses, he said, would be deployed on new routes to assist those not captured in existing routes. The Governor also said the first fleet of 100 vehicles would be given to employees on the Director cadre in the public service, while also approving discounts for workers interested in acquiring apartments in the Government-owned mass housing schemes. This, he said, will be followed by development of staff housing stocks only for Government workers.
He said: “Lagos has been the best in terms of payment of pension benefits to our retired workers. Our Government is committed to clearing the entire backlog; we are already close to clearing the 2021 liabilities. We are committed to ensuring that all our workers get paid their pensions upon retirement from service and this is the legacy we want to leave behind. “I am one of you and I am part of you. It is really a homecoming for me. The support and the encouragement I have received from all of you has been unprecedented. On behalf of Lagosians, I thank all of you for the great service you are rendering, which has made the Lagos public service the best in the country. It is only when the public service is energised and properly motivated that the citizens can feel the best of governance.”
Muri-Okunola, on behalf of the civil servants, hailed the Governor for prioritising the workers’ welfare and benefits.
The Head of Service said Sanwo-Olu had fulfilled more than 80 per cent of his promises to the State’s workers, stressing that the welfare package of the State Government was second to none. He added that 3,000 workers in the public service had benefited from the Governor’s retroactive approval for capacity building for staff, while the culture of prompt payment of salaries had been sustained.
Muri-Okunola said: “The Governor has ensured that the officers implementing his administration’s THEMES Agenda have adequate work tools and enabling environment for the actualisation of the programmes. A motivated workforce is what Lagos State public service is under the leadership of Gov. Sanwo-Olu and we will continue to get motivated to do more for Lagosians.”
Sanwo-Olu took a long walk around the secretariat. The Governor inspected the newly installed Data Centre for the State’s smart city project at the Ministry of Science and Technology.

fb img 16647397712535070935508866698468 Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, have called on Nigerians to continuously work and pray for peace in the nation. They made the call on Sunday at the Redeemed Christians Church of God (RCCG) October Thanksgiving Service and Special Prayer Session for all State Governors and Deputy Governors tagged “Perfect Peace in the Land” held at the church corporate headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.
Governor Sanwo-Olu while addressing the large congregation at the service urged Nigerians, including Lagosians to continue to pray for leaders in Nigeria and for peace to reign in the land with an assurance to believe that greater things are ahead.
The Governor, who attended the programme with his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu and other dignitaries which include the representatives of Governors Gboyega Oyetola (Osun) and Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), said the Greater Lagos agenda of his administration, which had brought about infrastructural development across Lagos State, is on course and more of it would be delivered. He said: “This service taking place a Sunday after the Independence Day anniversary is very important. And I think our GO (Pastor Adeboye) has said it all. We need perfect peace in our country but for us to have that perfect peace; we also need to have peace from individuals. It is we the citizens that make the country. It is not just about a metaphorical country; it is the people on the ground that truly make a country.
“We need to have that perfect peace in how we live our lives mentally, physically, financially, morally and all of it, and it is only when that happens that it can affect the country. He (Pastor Adeboye) has also encouraged all of us that we need to continually pray for our leaders. People are made up of the kind of leaders they have. So, it is really a partnership by ensuring that the citizens play their roles and leaders also play their roles. “For me, it is another clarion call that it might not be perfect but there is light at the end of the tunnel. And for us in Lagos, we are grateful because this is the most peaceful part of the country. We don’t want to take it for granted and that is why we have come here to thank God, to also appeal and pray to God for that peace to continue to reign.” Governor Sanwo-Olu also assured the people of Lagos State that his administration will continue to do its best in delivering dividends of democracy and infrastructural development to ensure that Lagos State remains home to all.
He said: “The 62nd Independence anniversary is an important time for all of us to also come together as Lagosians. A lot of things are happening in our state; not just peace, there is infrastructural renewal every day. Even while disruption is going on let us be patient with the government because the commitment to make Lagos a lot bigger for each and every one of us is on course and we all can see it. “For us in Lagos State is to continue to see the Greater Lagos in our lives. It is for us to pray that the peace and the infrastructural development that is taking place in our state will continue. I know around you, you can see that there are some bits of disruption. If you get to Apapa Road Junction, Yaba and Ikeja, there are bits of disruption there because of the train we are doing and the bridges we are constructing. “If you go to Ikorodu, Epe and other places, you will see some disruptions; it is because we want some positive things to happen. The Greater Lagos is on course. The Greater Lagos will not be retarded; it will not be stopped. Don’t give up. I want to assure you that greater things and bigger things are ahead of us. My prayer and my wish are that as I stand here as your governor today, October 2, 2022, I will also stand here as your governor in October 2023. In his sermon, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christians Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who took his sermon from a Bible passage, 1 Corinthians 7:13-14, prayed for perfect peace in Nigeria as well as every home.
Pastor Adeboye, who prayed that God would heal the land and intervene in various issues affecting the country negatively, urged the people to prepare to join him very soon for fasting and prayer for the country. He called on Nigerians to pray for their rulers and stop criticism so that God would continue to guide them aright if they want peace and to be able to overcome the storm.
The General Overseer prayed that all the enemies of Nigeria would be defeated so that the people can have peace and the Controller of storms would speak peace to the nation.
