IKODIV TRADE FAIR 2023: ICCI PROMOTES 2ND EDITION OF BUSINESS EXTRAVAGANZA AT LASUSTECH, CALLS FOR MSMEs TO UTILISE VENDOR STANDS ®™√ INN Nigeria © 303kekkek834851880690957581 Building momentum towards linking business gaps between MSMEs, a press conference foregoing the 2nd edition of the IKODIV Trade Fair, organised by the Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICC) took place on the 22nd of march 2023. Held at the boardroom of the Lagos State University Of Science and Technology in Ikorodu, the Trade Fair is billed to be a joint venture with LASUSTECH, ably supported by the State Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Cooperatives. With the primary objective of promoting commerce, industry, and the economic growth of Ikorodu Division, Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) is spearheading the 2nd edition to further develop more networks between over 100 registered small and large-scale business owners, giving expansion tendencies thereof. Setting the conference in motion, Chief R.O Shoderu, President of ICCI, stated that the Chamber, over the years have helped tirelessly to create avenues of growth and improvement for businesses to thrive, asserting that they (ICCI) are proud to have made significant strides in achieving its objective. According to Chief Shoderu, the annual Trade Fair event, also known as IKODIV Trade Fair, is one of the many ways the ICCI has demonstrated its commitment to the economic development of the waterbed region in Lagos State. He continued, "This event provides a platform for entrepreneurs and business owners, including macro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) to showcase their products and services, network, and engage in business transactions". "As an organisation, we are convinced that promoting entrepreneurship and providing support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is crucial to the economic growth of our Division". "This is why we have made it our mission to provide support and guidance to these businesses so that they can compete favourably on the global stage". "As we embark on this year's edition of the IKODIV Trade Fair, we are excited about the opportunities it presents to businesses in our environs". Wishing everyone a fruitful and memorable experience at the fair, Chief Shoderu concluded his speech by appreciating its sponsors, partners, and exhibitors for their unwavering support towards making the 2nd edition of the IKODIV Trade Fair a success. Conversing briefly on the ICCI and Lasustech synergy, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odunsanya, Vice-Chancellor of Lasustech, expressed his optimism on the trade fair not only promoting the growth of individual businesses but also contribute significantly to the economic development of Ikorodu Division. He affirmed his confidence that with ceaseless support, Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry will achieve even greater success in the coming years. An ICCI exco member, Prince Seye Adedipe, used the medium to call on the Lagos State Government over the poor condition of the industrial estate in the odogunyan axis of Ikorodu North LCDA. According to Prince Seye, both the Federal and State Government's purported promises is yet to yield. The vast industrial estate is considered the largest in west Africa. Prince Seye mumbled that if businesses must flourish then the industrial estate has to be rejuvenated, which would be an economic growth factor, not only in Ikorodu but all of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole. Past President, Prof. Emeritus Kunle Ade Wahab, channelled his words of encouragement towards the media practitioners present at the press conference, instructing them to effectively propagate the course and essence of the Trade Fair, reaching out to licensed prospects. He also said that the media can equally play a big role in providing remedies towards challenges faced by the ICCI as underscored by Prince Seye if they carefully give emphasis to the plights and continuously sound the alarm for intervention. "The media should also help us reach out to everyone to visit the Trade Fair and witness, firsthand, the wealth of talent and entrepreneurial spirit that exists in our Division" Prof. Kunle Wahab asserted. Sola Obadimu, Director General of the National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, who was present at the conference lauded the ICCI for working on strategic means to create more business opportunities for traders. He also thanked Lasustech's administrators for joining heads together with ICCI to make the 2nd edition of the IKODIV Trade Fair a reality, citing that the collaboration is an open door for more futuristic synergies. Lagos NACCIMA exco, Mrs Helen Tabunor Ogedegbe thanked everyone for attending the conference, urging every stakeholder not to relent in their commitment towards making the 2nd edition a success. The conference was anchored by Mr Olarenwaju Kuye, PRO Lasustech. Dr Olumide Metilelu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Lasustech, Alhaji Mohammed Ogidi, Mrs Kehinde Adelaja, DG ICCI, Alhaji Mukaila Afolabi, Mrs Adeola Rotinwa, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, Chairman, Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Alhaja Zainab Alogba (Coordinator, ICCI NAWORG Ikorodu) and other key personalities were in attendance. The Trade Fair is slated to kick off on the 26th of March and climax on the 2nd of April 2023. Traders partaking in the fair stand to gain a lot as some selected vendors were surprisingly empowered at the maiden edition by Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, while participants were also presented with certificates of attendance at the grand finale.

The unique prayers and thanksgiving service dated Wednesday, March 29, 2023, was organised as directed by the President-Elect, instead of his annual birthday colloquium. Presided over by the Grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu division, Sheikh (Alhaji) Seifudeen Ayinla Ademoritan Olowo-Oribi, the devotion program drew Islamic clerics from the six districts consisting of Ikorodu division. Chief Asipa Kaoli, Alhaji Waheed Animashaun, Hon. Lanre Balogun, Alhaji Decubano and other party leaders were in attendance. Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, Bldr Olusesan Daini, Executive Chairman of Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA, Hon. Coinciding with the Ramadan season, Sheikh (Alhaji) Chief Imam Seifudeen Ayinla Ademoritan Olowo-Oribi, in his lecture urged the Muslim faithfuls to prioritise praying for the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria as the nation readies to embrace another duration of leadership. Sheikh Olowo-Oribi further prayed to Almighty Allah to grant Bola Tinubu long life, good health and wisdom with which he would oversee the nation to a prestigious elevation as President. Subsequently, the Grand Chief Imam and over a hundred rabi Imams who assembled in the mosque, read the full Quran to offer prayers for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Speaking from his administration standpoint, Hon Wasiu Adesina, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu LG said Tinubu's electoral victory was the providence of God and that such prayer session is timely and ideal in reverence to Almighty God to further lead him right to steer the affairs of the country. In 2020, the 12th edition of the colloquium marking Asiwaju's 68th birthday was put off to empathize with those who lost their lives or were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. And in 2022, the birthday symposium was also called off by Asiwaju Tinubu right at the venue of the event when news emerged of the terror attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train in which several persons died and many others were abducted. The Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos venue was already filled with dignitaries to celebrate the birthday when Asiwaju took to the podium to announce the cancellation of the event. The former Governor of Lagos had said it would not be proper for him as a statesman to be celebrating when such a tragedy had befallen the nation. This year, the president-elect said the date, which falls within the holy month of Ramadan, should be dedicated to prayers and seeking God's guidance for him and the country as he prepares to take the reins of leadership.

Hon. Mudashiru Obasa; Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Folasade Jaji, members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), political and religious leaders on Wednesday held a thanksgiving service and special prayers in different parts of Lagos to celebrate the 71st birthday of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. The thanksgiving service and special prayers were held simultaneously at Chapel of Christ the Light and Secretariat Community Central Mosque, Alausa, Ikeja as well as in the Central Mosques of the five divisions in the State – Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos and Epe. During the special birthday thanksgiving and special prayers, Governor Sanwo-Olu and members of his cabinet, GAC members, and political and religious leaders showered encomiums on the President-elect for his leadership, mentorship and passion for Lagos and Nigeria. Islamic and Christian clerics also prayed for the celebrant, Asiwaju Tinubu; for Peace, Progress, Unity and New Nigeria. Prayers were also held for a successful Inauguration Day (May 29) and for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Dr Obafemi Hamzat. Speaking at the Special Prayers held at Secretariat Community Central Mosque, Alausa, Governor Sanwo-Olu, reiterated calls for Nigerians to be steadfast in their prayers for the President-elect to succeed as the president of the country. Sanwo-Olu, who was represented at the event by Dr Hamzat stated that no leader has the intention to fail but sometimes gets overwhelmed by challenges and unexpected issues upon assumption of office. He, therefore, seeks the continuous prayers of Nigerians that the President-elect be surrounded by good people as advisers and aides who have the interest of the country and the citizens at heart. Sanwo-Olu disclosed that Tinubu has a lot of good plans for Nigerians and will surely perform well in office. He, however, solicited the support and understanding of Nigerians as Asiwaju Tinubu leads the country to greater heights. “Asiwaju himself is very grateful to Almighty Allah for what He has done for him, my prayer for him is for Allah to be with him, to guide him to achieve those things he desires for this country because he has a lot of plans. I just pray that all those plans will materialize to impact people and this country positively,” he said. The Governor described Asiwaju as a very bold and determined man who has persevered a lot. “He doesn’t run away from challenges. So he is a man that understands what he needs for a nation to be developed and I just pray that he will be able to do all those things in his mind for development,” he said. Speaking at the Thanksgiving Service held at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was also represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Tayo Ayinde, praised God for Tinubu's life, and prayed that the “visionary leader would be strengthened to bring about development and programmes that would uplift the people.” Ayinde, who read the first lesson from Psalm 111: 1-10, said the birthday Thanksgiving Service is not just to express gratitude to God on Asiwaju Tinubu's birthday, but also to appreciate Him for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate's victory in the last elections. He prayed that God will give the President-elect His wisdom, guidance and direction for Asiwaju Tinubu as he prepares to take the reins of leadership in Nigeria. “Today is an auspicious occasion because we are gathered to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of a great man, a visionary, transformative leader. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is a pride to us in Lagos and a priceless global icon; an unrelenting fighter for democracy, an inextinguishable guiding light to the nation and an inspiration to me as well as the progressive's family. “We give glory to God for answering all the prayers as evidenced in the declaration of the celebrant of today, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President-Elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Speaking during the Thanksgiving Service, the Prelate Emeritus of the Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Sunday Makinde, said Asiwaju Tinubu was elected to rebuild Nigeria, raise Nigeria to enviable heights, and re-establish peace and unity in the country. Makinde in his exhortation during the service described Tinubu's election as a destiny for a purpose. He, therefore, sought ardent prayers for Tinubu for “divine wisdom, robust good health, victory over his enemies, and for him to finish his terms successfully.” The Prelate Emeritus also congratulated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, for their victory in the March 18 gubernatorial poll, saying their re-election was possible because of their hard work and people-oriented programmes. "I will advise Tinubu to choose his team of ministers, advisers, and ambassadors under divine prayers. He should consult God before man. He should use the best brains and professionals, even from the opposition parties to actualise his dreams of a better Nigeria. “Tinubu must work on achieving religious tolerance, and ethnic and tribal unity. He must ensure that social amenities are in abundance -water, electricity, educational and medical rehabilitation, agricultural revolution and development, and ensure massive job creation to reduce unemployment and brain drain," Makinde advised the President-elect. Also speaking, the Chief Imam, Alausa Secretariat Community Central, Imam, Abdul-Hakeem Abdul-Gafar, during his lecture stated that the gathering was to give thanks to Allah for permitting Asiwaju to emerge as the President-elect at the concluded presidential election and for preserving his life to witness his 71st birthday which comes up in the Holy Month of Ramadan. In his remarks, the National Missioner of the Ansar- ud- deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh AbdurRahman Ahmad, charged Nigerians to continually pray for the President-elect that Allah should help him, lead and guide him in the journey. He added that the people need to be supportive by being constructive, truthful and privately correcting him and not continually praising him. Sheikh Ahmad also urged them to acknowledge that Asiwaju Tinubu is not a magician knowing that the few months ahead may be tough and therefore, the people need to be tolerant as there will be light at the end of the tunnel.
