The National Chairman of the Association of Local Government vice-chairmen of Nigeria (ALGOVC), Aarebirin Honourable (Dr) Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba has showered encomium on the Lagos East Senatorial representative, Senator Adetokunbo Mukahil Abiru on his landslide triumph at the 2023 general elections.
Folashade-Oba, also the Executive Vice-chairman of Ikorodu local government praised the distinguished Senator for his overall performance which garnered him overwhelming support from his constituents.
According to Folashade-Oba in a short message to Ikorodu News Network on March 1st, "Senator Abiru, the Doing-Good Senator is notable for his Technological, Innovative and creative approach in harnessing vast opportunities his constituents".
She said, "His high level of expertise from the finance sector which he deployed into governance, embedded in his technique of supervision has defined his feats from others".
"Our dear Doing-Good Senator, who has touched the lives of thousands of constituents across the 98 wards in the 16 LGs/LCDAs of the Lagos East Senatorial District through his people-oriented programmes and interventions, can only be repaid by this election, which he genuinely earned through an enormous victory".

img 20230227 wa00047E28654117567278004455. Candidates of All Progressives Congress (APC) have been declared the winners of the three senatorial seats in Lagos State, recording landslide victories across the National Assembly slots.
Former Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule, won the Lagos West senatorial election, polling 361,296 votes to defeat her main challenger of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Segun Adewale, who scored 248,653 votes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Lagos West Senatorial District Collation Officer, Prof Solomon Akinboye, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election
INEC also returned Senator Tokunbo Abiru as the winner of the Lagos East senatorial election. The INEC Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Simeon Adebayo Oladipo, who declared the results in Somolu, said Abiru polled 178,646 votes to defeat the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akodada Nicholas Adekunle, who garnered 80,249 votes.
Abiru is the incumbent senator representing the senatorial district.
Lagos Deputy Speaker, Hon. Wasiu Eshinlokun, beat PDP’s Gomez Adewale Francis to clinch the Lagos Central Senatorial District.
Eshinlokun garnered 131,828 votes, while Francis polled 69,320 votes and OIadeji Blessing Tunde of the Young Progressives Party scored 14, 941 votes to become the second runner-up.
APC has also cleared the House of Representatives seats in Lagos, with Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila being elected for the sixth time.
APC won 20 of the 24 Reps seats in the just concluded federal elections.

393on3n3mmmm1074366340008921187 The Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos State, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi on Wednesday, led some key members of the party executives to the Constituency office of Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru for a crucial meeting with Senator Abiru’s over 2,000 Canvassers from Kosofe and Somolu LGAs.
The Canversers operate under the auspices of East Consultative Forum,ECF, an independent Campaign group that is complementing the party’s voters mobilisation drive in the Lagos East Senatorial District. There are over 4,000 Canvassers engaged by Senator Abiru to mobilise voters to vote for all the APC candidates in the February 25 and March 11, 2023 general elections.
Similar sensitisation sessions were held for Canvassers from Ikorodu, Epe, Ibeju Lekki. Senator Tokunbo Abiru in his remarks, appealed to the Canvassers to intensify voters mobilisation exercise across Kosofe, Ikosi-Isheri, Agboyi-Ketu, Somolu Bariga and by extension, the 98 wards in the 16 LGAs/LCDAs under Lagos East. According to the Senator, It is imperative for the party to have a large voter turnout that will boost the number of votes for APC, particularly, the presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He reiterated that ECF is not in competition with the party, but complementing the efforts of the party in mobilizing voters to vote for all APC. Senator Abiru said respect for the party and its structures remained sacrosanct. He disclosed further that campaign sourvenirs were first given to the party before getting to the Canvesers and their coordinators across the Lagos East Senatorial District.
The Party Chairman, Pastor Ojelabi said Senator Tokunbo Abiru has shown that he is indeed a loyal party man, who is genuinely seeking the success of the party at the polls. According to him, Senator Abiru has strenthened the confidence of the party members through his robust reward system that gets to beneficiaries directly.
Pastor Ojelabi said Senator Abiru has re-enacted the what the Holy Bible says in Revelation 22 vs 12, ... “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be”. Widely applauded for his outstanding story of rising from a cleaner to an assistant general manager, Alhaji Bashiru Akinwande Saminu has advised the government to review the work duration of public servants before retirement. Alhaji Saminu, an Ijede-based chartered accountant in an interview with Ikorodu News Network (INN) expressed that municipal subordinates would thoroughly maximise the line of obligation if the length of service is appropriately allotted and acknowledged.
He explained, "I was employed as a cleaner because I only had a school certificate, but with determination, I went back to school (after working for 2yrs), completed my ND, HND and also Master's degree within the space of 5yrs.
"(I got the approval to return based on an agreement that I'll return to service afterwards), So each time I depart school, I'll always return to continue my service which was meant to span 35yrs".
According to Alhaji Saminu, He spent over 5yrs in school and was later elevated in the ranks to the position of assistant general manager due to his successive presentation of results after studying. Pointing out that his back and forth with academics was not on a part-time basis, Alhaji Saminu disclosed that during those years, he was not paid until he returned exclusively back to work.
He continued, "So when you have 35yrs to discharge your duties as a public servant, and removing my active 5yrs in school, it meant I only functioned and got appreciated for just 30yrs".
"Yes, it is sure we can't fight the government's policy, and also you can't shift a goalpost when the game has already started. But my point is that the system needs to review the policy and make the service years more reasonable for civil subordinates".
"I am 55yrs and already retired, but what am saying is for the future of public service, to aid those who would eventually intend to return to school and boost their professional status, the system needs to work on models to appreciate such planning individuals".
"In a nutshell, am saying that if the public service can run straight to 60yrs, then so be it, but also, if it's for 35yrs only, then such people that plan to return to study should be given the benefit of going to upgrade their intellectual capacity, knowing that their service years are already elapsing".
Alhaji Saminu maintained that, if the government through its legislative arm decides not to appreciate public servants during their return to academia, then those years should be deducted from their active service timeline, so their commitments would be entirely maximised and appreciated.
"The policy needs to be re-enacted, because if a person intends to return to school without payment, then his/her schooling years should be deducted from their active service timeline as well".
"It is either 60yrs straight or 35yrs with pause and continuation policy to promptly articulate their duration of service" Alhaji Saminu rationalised.
